It's in a book called "Man The Hunted" as well as several government sponsered sites. Go ahead and look it up. "Man the Hunted" believes it's because by the time the first humans crossed over to North America, we would have already discovered fire and weapons advanced enough that wolves considered them more of a threat than anything else.

okay, after a while of searching I did find something about a young man that died from rabies after getting it from a rabid wolf but it isn't from a reliable source.

Also my friend tells me there was something on the discovery channel about a possible wolf killing but they said it was more likely done by a grizzly (the body had been dragged from where it was killed and wolves apparently don't drag their prey after attacking it plus some more facts that he's forgotten)
