Regardless, it's the same argument as in the knives in China thread. Prescription drugs are not purely weaponised tools. They have other uses that are positive and beneficial.

Also, unlike knives or guns, seems like a very very signifcant majority of these deaths are suicide rather than homicide. That doesn't make them acceptable, but it does make them qualitatively different to the arguments around guns or knives, and about protecting someone from themself, rather than protecting society from someone.

Plus, of course, arguing that prescription drugs should be controlled is pretty much an oxymoron. By definition, prescription drugs are already controlled.
