I was in New Mexico for 3 Hours: Ask me Anything!

Post by DoomYoshi »

I was taking a cross country bus and got strip searched before getting back on.

Meet the New Mexico, same as the Old Mexico.

My wife and I drove through New Mexico last summer as part of our honeymoon. We got stopped at a highway checkpoint somewhere not far from the Arizona border. My wife is Korean but maybe non-white is non-white to those border patrol guys because they had to have her passport and asked her a ton of questions. I was a bit perturbed by it all (and not a tiny bit nervous, who knows what these guys are capable of in the name of "national security") but my wife thought it was fantastic--"just like in the movies" she said with a big grin when it was all over!

My question (if you're still taking them): Were you sitting in or near the back of the bus and if so, what awfulness was going on in the back of that bus? I've never taken a Greyhound anywhere that there wasn't someone (or more often some couple) doing freaky shit in the back of the bus.

Yea. I was not yet 18, and I met a girl in Ohio who asked me for a light. She was going to Vegas, so we rode together until Flagstaff. We sat at the very back of the bus the whole time. When I got off the bus and onto another one for Tucson, there were catcalls still coming at me. That bus trip is also the reason I hate Oklahoma.

No outlaws and nietzche's younger brother is AoG who is up in New ENGLAND, not New MEXICO.

TeeGee, you should watch the movie "Two Mules for Sister Sara". Then you will understand. If you can't find that in the Outback movie salon, then watch the Square, which was pretty cool.

Differences of opinion. Old Mexico prefers classic red chili. New Mexico prefers green chili. They even had an epic clash on a chess board to try and determine the outcome, but they discovered several of the pieces were actually checkerboard pieces halfway through, so they had to end the match prematurely. And with that, they divided old Mexico from New Mexico.

How'd you like the Sandia mountains? I lived in ABQ for 4 years and never got tired of watching the sunset illuminating the Sandias.
