How to play these two new maps? Vertex / Austrum

Two new maps by koontz1973, Vertex and Austrum, begs the question to be asked before it can be played,

What is the best way to play these maps?

What the creator wanted to tell was that he's a map creator. A map creator have to let his children go. Now that the map is released is far better to have input from other players cause they will see them map as he is and not in the way the creator intended. I guess that's it.
It's a matter that after release he want's to have a feedback from the strategists too, he developed strategies while drawing and all but it would be better to him if he could listen to other people and so, it's special and is even worth as quality check..

If you have a daughter you will know what I mean.

I'm guessing it so, did I read some minds or not?

As soon as both of these go live, you know all my other games are going to get neglected. Out of all my maps, these are the ones I am most proud of graphically.

but these are not in beta yet?
i cant know how best to play them if i dont actually play someone.. what is starting-positions/terr neutrals/where(how many) to much unknown until i actually play a real human being on it..

or what is it you are actually asking?

Top one (Vertex) normal deploy.
Aurtrum, some starts but mostly normal deploy.
The question is can you work out how best to play before they get into play?

no im not nearly smart enough for that,,

but ill start playing once hits beta and let you know what i arrive at..

at this point i would say; a) deploy 4stacks and hit your opponent unless you dropped something that could become a bonus cheaply
b) break your opponents bonuses before taking your own
c) pull out and dust of your old sacrificial altar and get going with goats and virgins to the dice-gods..

this strat normally works in general and ill be more precise once i have actually tried it;) looks neat though.. i just hope it womt inherit the troubles from blitz map when its tied to regions/region-count like that..

but time will tell i guess;) (maybe you could put up your own xml-server and do pretrials off-site?

These have hit beta, so what is the best way? How did you win your game? What size of game was it and what settings.

I've just set up two 1v1 games on these maps. They're relatively small maps so perhaps not something I'd play regularly, but I like the unique bonus system and they're completely different from anything else at the moment.

In terms of general gameplay - bearing in mind I've only played a couple of rounds - I'd say it's best to just work from wherever you're strongest and break your opponent's reinforcement lines to prevent them accumulating bonuses.

i set up 1 of each aswell and got my ass well and truely kicked in both before even starting my first turn..
so based on this i wouldnt say this works 1v1 with such a small map and a bonus-system that (if you get the correct drop) makes it so that whoever goes 1st can drop 7 and whoever 2nd gets 4.. im not sure if ukey just got extremely lucky with his deploy and dice, but both games where lost before i even started my turn going 2nd (still going so may change, but its pretty unbalanced in my book with 7v4 starting-bonuses).
then again there are maps that are unbalanced that people still enjoy like city-mogul or supermaxxx prison-rape.. ill set up a couple more and will update as it progresses, but initial feeling is that connected-bonus system + random deploy and loads of neutrals basically dooms player 2 since no real chanse of breaking whatever player 1 gets round 1.. maybe set starting-places would make it more balnced.. but then again im a fan of any conquest-map for 1v1 and basically dont like any map with random drop for this type of game..

ill try some team-games aswell but i think it would be very messy to get any type of significant bonus in a trips or quads.. but ill try it first and speak after..

Okay, for 1v1 these maps aren't great. Like anonymus said there is too much luck involved and because of how small the maps are, and the bonus system, (un)lucky dice and three card sets just make it a walkover.
