Spoils are the same as 'cards' in the original RISK game. You get 1 spoil per turn, as long as you either conquer or bombard a territory on your turn.
You cash in spoils in sets of 3. You must turn in either 3 red cards, 3 green cards, 3 blue cards, or a mix of 1 red 1 green and 1 blue.
When you hold 5 or more cards, you must turn in a set.
Depending on the type of game you are playing, the spoils will have different effects when you turn them in.
Flat Rate: A rest set gives 4 extra armies, green 6, blue 8, and a mixed set 10.
Escalating: the first set of any kind turned in by any player gives 4, the next 6, then 8, 12, 15, 20, 25, ....
Nuclear: the armies associated with the territories on the cards you turn in are obliterated, whether they are yours or an opponents.
