Probably the hardest question ever to answer. Please, I hope we can have an educated discussion, and not a bunch of ppl sayin "sex", "gettin high", and "potatoes". What do ppl think?
The point of life is, obviously, more life. Love, sex, and video game, without all the love or the video games.
And, as trite as that answer is, it's also serious. Life is a self-replicating phenomenon. Obviously, the better it is at self-replicating, the longer it is going to last. Therefore, after only a few hundred generations, the only goal of any surviving strain of creature is to ensure that its strain does not die out. Any strain for which this is not the goal will die.

Cheesy as it sounds I'd propose 'self fulfilment' or 'happiness' as the point. Given that I don't believe in a 'God'; then we must all be our own masters, and as such the only point we can possibly have is to fulfill as many of our desires as possible.
I'm kinda tired, so that's a bit simplistic, but I guess it'll get expanded as we go on. I just wanted to kick off this rather interesting thread with a talking point.

although I am religious, I also believe the point of life is happiness. Because "doing good deeds" or whatever christians call it, that is their point of life I think...either that or the 10 commandments...
anyway they believe that stuff will get you into heaven. But I believe doing that stuff will get you into heaven AND make you happy, thus the REAL point of life, IMO is happiness.

Some shark had a baby without a male shark helping. I saw that on the news today.
OK I feel like I have a few points to make on this but I'm not gonna do it all right now I'll just start with a few. First of all LIFE IS NOT A COMPETITION!!! So many people don't realize that. Yes some thngs can be competitive but life is not. 99.9% of people act like it is. If one kid gets a 94 on a test and his friend got an 89 it's not like they would just take the grade. There is a huge chance that the one with the 94 will tell his friend "I beat you". I've gone through this soooo many times and it's not just in school. On TV you see competitions on every channel and it promotes a mesdsage that if your athletic and strong you'll make it but that's not necessarily true. After high school athletes may go to become a professional but their career may only last 5 years. Someone who's smart will go on to find a business or create a new technology. Now tell me who wins in that competition?

That's how we are. IT's fun, when you're on top, and really as long as I did good, I'm okay.

OK But what if you are the kind of person who exceeds expectations in school and he is the kind of person who struggles and can barely pass. When he gets a 95 on a test he is probably very excited until you come up and shove your better grade in his face. What happens to him, he becomes sad and all his hopes are in the drain.

well, the friend would know that and wouldn't say it in his face.

Actually, he's pretty smart. And Biology is one of his best subjects.
