Some say that having 200+ maps is a good thing, others say it is killing the site. I think I stand somewhere in the middle. I think variety is good, but at some point there needs to be limitations. It seems to me that more and more people are just specializing on a select few maps and will never join any games on different maps. So I pose the question, if CC could only offer 10 maps to play on, which 10 should they be? Depending on responses maybe we could expand the list, but lets just start with 10. I'm not asking you to list your 10 favorite maps, but think in terms of overall appeal for the site. Which 10 have the most to offer?
Philadelphia.
Classic Art.
the original Asia map.
Crossword.
Promontory Summit.
Das Schloss.
Draknor Level II (not the current one, the one still being worked on)
Atlantis.
Pearl Harbor.
Hive.
Classic is obvious
World 2.1 is wonderful for expanding new members to bigger maps, while still feeling being in familiar grounds
Doodle for being too small
Hive for being too big
2 or 3 between Actium, Eurasia, USA 2.1 or First nations for being big
Conquer Rome for being...so damn perfect!
Das Schloss and King's court II for the same reason, but without extra exclamation marks
2 or 3 between Feudal, feudal epic, peloponesian, Antarctica for "conquer neutral play"
Third crusade for realistic objective missions (good in freestyle)
Perhaps some WWII maps, but I do not know them well. Also strange original maps like arms race or circus maximus make interesting choices
Classic
World 2.1
Conquer Rome
King's Court II
France 2.1 ( if we need a "big map" let's go for a beautiful one, I can't look at Hive or Battle of Actium )
USA 2.1 ( same reason than above - could be replaced by Eurasia for me )
Antartica ( or Labyrinth )- one conquest map with losing condition.
Middle Age
Then we need at least 2 map for the speed games : ( we also have classic )
