thats what I was trying to get at.spurgistan wrote:Paul's getting a lot of play because he's opposed to the war in Iraq, which is kinda rare for a Repub right now, but that's only because paying this much freaking money to fight an unnecessary war takes valuable money away from rich Americans, and precious little to do with compassion for increasingly dying Iraqis. The guy's an isolationist, but for really all the wrong reasons.
Basically, the man wants to completely destroy whatever remains of the welfare state in America, and set the rate of immigration to a number approximating 0. Ron Paul is wrong, and the sooner American liberals see that this is NOT OUR GUY, we'll be better off.
I like small government, but I would not vote for him.Anarchist wrote:(via Colbert Report)
Republican Ron Paul was on the Colbert report and made several impresive statements, he called himself a constitutionalist.
He opposed the war in Iraq and is against the Patriot Act
His views are one for small government(less state more freedoms)
under the guidelines of the US constitution
Since the media doesnt portray any of the less known candidates,
I thought I would bring it up and see what everyone though of him?
(unless hes a liar, he currently has my support)

would you vote for him?

Bingo.Serbia wrote:The guy doesn't have a chance. First, he's Republican in name only, and conservatives (like myself) won't vote for him. Second, since he IS a Republican in name, liberal Democrats won't vote for him. So basically, he's just out there running, and will pick up a few percentage points, until he finally goes away.

Um....he's what Republicans claim to be. Small government, no welfare, gun rights galore, no federal subsidies, etc.Serbia wrote:The guy doesn't have a chance. it would be fair to say you are running out of republican candidates to vote for, should that be where you would choose, though you might possibly tend to vote libertarian, as much as one could tell from 4 posts.GeneralUnderhill wrote:Um....he's what Republicans claim to be. You're a fascist if you vote for Giuliani. He's anti-gun, anti-life, anti-civil liberties, anti-Constitution, and pro-police state. If he gets elected, I'll probably run for my life.
You're also a fascist if you vote for Insane McCain. He may be pro-gun, but just as long as the State has bigger ones. If he's pro-life, well, I'm not certain he's that smart. He'll beef up the military (to the neglect of everything else) until it collapses under its own weight, Soviet Union-style (or British Empire-esque). Did I mention that he's probably going to ignore the Bill of Rights? Say 'so long' to habeus corpus (not that we haven't already).
As for Romney, he got elected in a predominantly Democrat state. He jacked up in Massachusetts, too. He established a healthcare system and raised taxes (he lowered them once, only to raise them a few more times).
First off, RON PAUL IS A TEXAS REPUBLICAN. He is currently being ballyhooed by some within the lib establishment for his anti-war views, but as I said before, he's not against it for the same reasons we (libs) are predominately against it, that being the massive waste of Iraqi and American life for reasons still elusive, if not completely unreachable; he just thinks we should curl up in our American shell and leave the resUnt of the world the hell alone, simply for financial purposes. Anarchist, let me tell you: unless you want to be ruled by and ruled for the financial elite of our country (and ours alone, f*ck the rest of the world, more or less), Ron Paul is not who you want for president.jay_a2j wrote:reverend_kyle wrote:Ron paul wants all mexicans dead.
I doubt that. The democrats want all the illegal immigrant votes. Whoever is elected needs to CLOSE THE BOARDERS.
lol who is the one vote for bigger government? Has to be a liberal.
Do you like Thompson? Of the top 3, the one I like least is McCain, and I really doubt he'll get the nomination anyway. I'd vote for Guiliani, or Romney, for that matter, but wouldn't really be excited about voting for either. Thompson though interests me... of course he's not in the race yet.GeneralUnderhill wrote:I'm pretty close to a libertarian, yes. But I'm not going to vote. I won't be able to change anything, since I live in Texas, and I'm not signing up for the draft any time soon.
But I will agree that he won't get the Republican nomination. He's too Jeffersonian for that.
