I do agree with the 3 major cities being fascist hubs..KoolBak wrote:Correction: The whackos in the 3 large cities have created a Fascist AreaThey're damn proud of the whole "Keep Portland Weird" thing.

Agree on the top line, but I wouldn't say the rest of the state is normal lol. They are just a different kind of weird (but not facist).KoolBak wrote:Correction: The whackos in the 3 large cities have created a Fascist AreaThey're damn proud of the whole "Keep Portland Weird" thing.

yes... using the police , armed with guns, to 'round up ' and force them to do their job is definitely Fascism...spurgistan wrote:Making people do their jobs is fascism now? It is gonna suck when you get a job and they won't let you leave the state in order to keep your workplace from operating.

If your state depends on you to operate and you flee the state to keep it from operating, what would you have them do? This isn't a valid political action, it's just cowardice. They should have tried to do their jobs and negotiate what they could. They still could, since they are free of any actual dereliction of duty charges that they would get if they did any other job of importance.NomadPatriot wrote:yes... using the police , armed with guns, to 'round up ' and force them to do their job is definitely Fascism...spurgistan wrote:Making people do their jobs is fascism now? Fascism definition is - a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
please .. go right ahead & defend the democrats on this one..

the republican solution.. --> fine the members & withhold their pay while they continued to negotiate... not fascist police tacticsKoolBak wrote:Apparently the walkout strategy crosses all political boundaries![]()

I always see comments on like reddit and stuff how the non-portland/eugene areas of Oregon are these racist, klan- abiding redneck havens or some such. It reminds me of peoples' perceptions of the south especially, or maybe even like English stories of Africa c. early 1800s, in that it's so fantastical and removed from reality it's hilarious.mookiemcgee wrote:Agree on the top line, but I wouldn't say the rest of the state is normal lol. it's because the lunatics in those cities actually believe there is a massive racist part of the population.. but they never see any of them in their cities.. so the racist horde MUST be outside the city...TA1LGUNN3R wrote:I always see comments on like reddit and stuff how the non-portland/eugene areas of Oregon are these racist, klan- abiding redneck havens or some such. Most people's idea of things they don't know is a caricature.TA1LGUNN3R wrote:I always see comments on like reddit and stuff how the non-portland/eugene areas of Oregon are these racist, klan- abiding redneck havens or some such. Yeah. Here in Canada we often have "bell-ringing incidents" where the opposition walks out of Parliament and the bells ring incessantly for them to come back. It's a legit tactic.KoolBak wrote:Apparently the walkout strategy crosses all political boundaries![]()

It’s a tactic. Why is it legit? Because people do it?Dukasaur wrote:Yeah. If the voters find the tactic was used in error, they have a right to signal their displeasure in the next election.
I suppose in the literal sense, it's legit because it's not against the law.jimboston wrote:It’s a tactic. Why is it legit? Because people do it?Dukasaur wrote:Yeah. I’ve tried that... but we know your MO.
When confronted with actual facts you do three things...
1) Ignore them.
2) Misquote your opponents
3) Throw insults
So i’ll ‘Debate’ how I feel thanks.
