Who knew the 35-39 age category sprint during the UCI Masters Track World Championships in Los Angeles had so many fans. Were you as shocked by the 2nd place finish by Svetlana Gorstein as I was? Just kidding I made that name up because I couldn't find any other information about the race beside furious galaxy brains upset that this race was RUINED.

This may be a minor example in a minor sport.... but that doesn’t make it less valid.

I’m not furious... I’m just stating that this type of issue will ruin sporting for true genetic women.

It may or may not be important to you or to people who are watching... but it seems like it would be important to the competitors.

If it were any other issue where a person levied political activism to create for themselves an unfair advantage against weaker persons, the progressives would be screeching like normal. I actually don't ever recall having sambuca. The nearest I'm guessing might be ouzo? I've had that. Or maybe jaeger? I like both of those.

It's kinda like them in terms of the strong, herby taste, but in my experience the greasy mouth-coating sensation you get with sambuca isn't something you get from ouzo or Jaeger (I used to quite like the latter).

I did just go out and buy a bag of liquorice allsorts though so thank you for the reminder.

Which is funny because in my post I explicitly stated that it might be a good idea for sports to be segregated based on physiological differences. I just suggested it might possible to make that distinction in more nuanced way than the existing 'man/woman' system used by most sports. So it would appear that you agree with me and once again are just arguing with me for the sake of being contrary. Your avatar really is apt.

We separate men and women in sports because we recognize they are different.

A man choosing to become a woman does not make him a woman.. even if he gets his weenie cut off.
If a man wants to cut his weenie of, change his name, and be addressed as a woman.. I got not problem with it.
It’s a free country.

When this man then tries to take it a step further and demand to compete against women in sports... he is then intruding on the rights of those women. He has then gone too far. Sorry.

Is Gender Dysphoria a real thing... I have no personal experience, but I’ll trust the doctors.
That does not give a man with Gender Dysphoria a right to intrude on the rights of others anymore than alcoholism gives an alcoholic the right to drive when drunk.

I recognize that there are non-trans people who are born with intersex traits. These people are born with these genetic disorders (is that a politically incorrect way to phrase that)... these people don’t conform to typical sex traits either, but they were born this way and this is not a common thing and I feel these should likely be addressed by sports separately from someone who is born one way and decides to identify differently.

Actually the original reason wasn't "nature" but "locker rooms." Not all men are the same; not all women are the same. Each has their own bell curve. Certainly with all sports worth watching, we base things on the far end of the bell curve. In this case men have the advantage over women. But that doesn't mean that there can be complexity somewhere in the middle.

They compete in gym class (at some schools) even though they use separate lockers. It’s only as they age that the physical differences in strength, speed, etc. truly manifest themselves. They don’t compete because it wouldn’t be a ‘fair’ match.
