You realize this isn’t a real commercial for a real product, right?mrswdk wrote:A cartoon from 2017 that depicts a black man being arbitrarily and aggressively detained by a white officer, whose attempts to subdue the black man include handcuffing him and then kneeling on his neck:
It is chilling to think that this abuse has been perpetrated against black Americans so widely, and for so long, that it pervades all elements of American culture as the 'stereotype' of how a black person can expected to be treated by American police.

Well protest have been going for what 8 days in MN, maybe 5-6 days in NY? Either way it's not as long as the incubation period for covid seems to be...so the two are almost certainly unrelated. In other news Florida had it's biggest single day spike in cases since the outbreak started. Looks like all the early opening is starting to pay off!The ram wrote:The chair of the New York health committee Mark D Levine tweeted that if there is a spike in Corona virus cases. Not to blame the protesters but to blame racism. He's a Democrat.

Well that’s what you said... are you now saying we shouldn’t believe what you post?mrswdk wrote:You think I thought a cartoon that predominately focuses on a black guy being beaten up by a racist police officer was an actual advert for children’s cereal?
A riot is essentially a war zone. A journalist in a war zone puts themselves at risk. There’s nothing else to add.mrswdk wrote:

This is just one of countless similar stories of the injuries state thugs have been inflicting on peaceful protestors.

One of these people considers themselves to be a journalist - you have 4 seconds to identify who it is!
I ❤︎ Australian riot police! My favorite move is when one of them drags a leftist along the ground while the other is administering baton strikes.Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said after initially approving the protest, the only legal method for the state to stop the protest was Supreme Court action.
The matter will be heard at 3.30pm today.
He admitted people may still turn up to the event tomorrow, but they will be penalised if their behaviour is unlawful.
"If 10 people turn up in Pitt Street tomorrow, then we wish them well," he said.
"But if hundreds of people turn up, then they're in breach ... obviously all of the police powers available to us can be used."

Ironic that the guy who likes to accuse me of twisting the meaning of his words is now just fabricating quotes and attributing them to me.jimboston wrote:Well that’s what you said...mrswdk wrote:You think I thought a cartoon that predominately focuses on a black guy being beaten up by a racist police officer was an actual advert for children’s cereal?
jim states that:mrswdk wrote:

... and here is another case were you rewrite what I actually said... rather than just quote me.mrswdk wrote:

Point to the part of my post where I said, implied, insinuated, hinted, intimated, suggested etc etc that I thought it was a real advert. Quote it, colour it in red, whatever you want. I'll give you some time.jimboston wrote:Now you’re denying your post? This is a parody commercial created for the TV show Atlanta that was designed to make a political point.

I thought you said you’d give me some time?mrswdk wrote:IOW jim has now realised that I never said I thought the cartoon was an actual cereal advert and would like to refocus the conversation somewhere a little less embarrassing for him.
I would have thought that a cartoon professing to be a children's cereal advert and yet mostly consisting of a black man being beaten up arbitrarily by a police officer in front of a group of horrified children was fairly self-evidently satire. If it would help you then I am happy to accompany all future posts and videos with warning labels highlighting the intended tone and fiction/satire/non-fiction status of all content.jimboston wrote:Bold and in Red.jimboston wrote:You realize this isn’t a real commercial for a real product, right?mrswdk wrote:A cartoon from 2017 that depicts a black man being arbitrarily and aggressively detained by a white officer, whose attempts to subdue the black man include handcuffing him and then kneeling on his neck:

You indicate this as a cartoon... at no point do you point out it’s a parody.
