Time magazine called it "The ping heard round the world." On April 10 1971, nine players, four officials, and two spouses stepped across a bridge from Hong Kong to the Chinese mainland, ushering in an era of "Ping-Pong diplomacy." They were the first group of Americans allowed into China since the Communist takeover in 1949.

The Butcher of Ottawa, Justin Trudeau, just announced a ban on Russian oil imports.

Canada will now import oil from Saudi Arabia instead, which is currently bombing Yemen into extinction, where women and men aren't permitted to vote, which performs more per capita executions than any country on Earth, and where all the 9/11 bombers came from. The oil Russia used to sell to Canada will now be sold to China instead, and China will concurrently decrease its imports from Saudi Arabia.

A great victory for human rights!

* Of course, Canada produces plenty of oil to sustain itself, but Ontario and the Maritimes believe it's too dirty for their high standards so it gets loaded onto gas-guzzling tankers and shipped thousands of miles instead.

Yeah this was a pathetic decision from 'politics have no place in sport' FIFA.

In any case, good luck to FIFA/UEFA taking their 'no politics' line next time they want to fine players for wearing poppies or to ban stadiums from lighting up with rainbows in support of LGBT (both of which they have recently penalized clubs for).

I'm some what shocked at the attitude of some on this thread. Our way of life and the world is being threatened by an utter lunatic and you babble on about politics in sport and criticise. Bleating on about other wars and saying why is nothing being done about that then. Then of course when something is done you scream interference.

While you keyboard warriors are sitting in your comfy leather seats playing war games and moaning about anything and everything. 100,000s of innocent people are defending their country against a proven violent aggressor.

I'm pleased to say that 100's of ex pat Ukraine's living in the UK are heading towards the war zone. Kitted out at cost price by Military stores in the UK.

In addition to this 100's of ex-SAS and ex-British Services personal are also heading to the war zone.

Mind you don't break a nail violently typing your reply. =D>

How is our way of life being threatened by the Russian peacekeeping operation in Ukraine? How is Russia a violent aggressor for seeking to stop 7 years of Uke attacks against the Donbas? How does my hope for a quick Uke surrender to spare unnecessary casualties while you crow about more British killing machines flowing into the conflict make me a keyboard warrior?

We're not seeing videos of collapsed buildings or burning bodies typical of NATO wars. It's because the magnanimous Russians are holding back to avoid unnecessary bloodshed. If Zel doesn't surrender, though, he alone will bear responsibility for the inevitable.

This says a lot that Western politicians have whipped their populations up into such a wild-eyed war hysteria that even by the standards of early 20th century jingoism, we've jumped the shark.

In 1999 year main propaganda tool was Television not internet , so US-Nato to prevent bad propaganda start Bombarding television building and TV towers , when they repair quick, US-Nato decide to bombard electric power lines, transmission substation and in that way to cut TV signal transmission. Keyboard warrior not existed, smartphones not existed , so my experience of 78 days of bombardment stay in my memories . Are you ever experience something like that?

Conductor of the Munich Philaharmonic has just been sacked for failing to criticise the Russian government:

We've now moved fully into the 'reds under the beds' phase of the propaganda push, and it's only week one!

The worst is yet to come! thanks to this propaganda, some Ukrainians will probably start to think the world owes them. Syrians did so because Arabic speaking media in the Middle East created as big propaganda against their so-called evil president.

Now Americans claim that Russian use cluster ammunition and that these its war crime???

US cluster bomb distribution
Vietnam war 260 million cluster bomblets
Yugoslavia 1999-- 2000 cluster bomb
Afghanistan --1228 cluster bomb
Iraq 1991 -61000 cluster bomb
Iraq 2003-2006--13000 cluster bomb

US policy about cluster bombs
In May 2008, then-Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Stephen Mull stated that the U.S. military relies upon cluster munitions as an important part of their war strategy.
==================================================
Im confused , when US drop cluster bombs how you call that????
Also Russians try to avoids civilian casualty, something that not exist in US military doctrine .
Also Russian lost 5700 soldiers,,,,Ukraine lost 110 soldier .... i mean according on that Ukraine dont need any help they have super soldiers, i mean if these last one month entire Russian invasion army will be whip out .
If you take these math Russian need 11400000 soldiers to be equal with 200000 Ukrainian soldier, to be able to win.
I try to believe western propaganda but they need to try to not exaggerate to much, otherwise everybody will start to not believe in these information

Let's see:

Russia's ruble worth less than 1 cent after West tightens sanctions

Russia's currency is tumbling after Western nations on Saturday agreed to put crippling sanctions on the country's financial sector in retaliation for its invasion of Ukraine.

The ruble fell about 30% against the dollar Monday — making it worth less than 1 U.S. cent — after the U.S., European Union and United Kingdom announced moves to block some Russian banks from the SWIFT international payment system and to restrict Russia's use of its massive foreign currency reserves. The system is used to move billions of dollars around more than 11,000 banks and other financial institutions around the world.

The ruble recovered ground after Russia's central bank sharply raised its key interest rate Monday to shore up the currency and prevent a run on banks. But it was trading at a record low 105.27 per dollar, down from about 84 per dollar late Friday.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/russia-ukraine-ruble-sanctions/

and

Russians wait in long lines to withdraw from ATMs as crippling sanctions take effect

Russians queued up in long lines to withdraw cash from ATMs in recent days as crippling sanctions sent the ruble plummeting in response to Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

The United States and European countries have issued a raft of sanctions against Russia, including a ban on their citizens transacting with Russia's central bank, Russia's National Wealth Fund, or the Russian finance ministry.

"The unprecedented action we are taking today will significantly limit Russia’s ability to use assets to finance its destabilizing activities, and target the funds Putin and his inner circle depend on to enable his invasion of Ukraine," Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a statement on Monday.

Russian banks were also cut off from SWIFT, a messaging network that facilitates financial transactions around the world.

so,
Bottom Line: more bad predictions by saxi, and saxi, the Sky is beginning to fall for Your Man, Putin, the REAL Butcher of the year.

According to our extremely competent and non-geriatric president, Old Joe -- speaking just moments ago -- Russia has apparently just invaded Iran.

so.....Sticks and Stones........vs. Words

And this is saxi's only Reply? That is a weak and impotent response, saxi. There is NO refutation there, but what is NEW for saxi, the Troll of CC.

Putin is EVIL.  And the Real Butcher in the world. Justin Trudeau had one police horse runs accidentally over one woman and he has "blood" on his ONE hand?? really...??? That is the basis for your "attack" on Trudeau? Another weak and impotent response, saxi.

Okay, I am compelled to say the proper response: saxi is a troll, tells lies, uses obfuscation, and attempts to peddle fake news. WoW, that sounds NOVEL.

NO wonder saxi worships Putin.

Day 7 of Russia's peacekeeping operation and the Ukranian government appears to be accelerating its brutal mistreatment of black and brown Ukrainian residents ahead of their potential liberation by Russian forces.

Indian students are now dying in the battle for Kharkiv after Ukrainian stormtroopers repeatedly threw them off evaluation trains, each time for no reason other than the colour of their skin or their nationality:

bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-60551905

This coming fresh on the back of Ukranian border guards beating black and brown refugees and refusing to let them leave the country even as white Ukranians crossed the border into Poland (reported earlier in this thread).

The first crates of EU weaponry are due to arrive in Ukraine any day now. Let's just hope the EU doesn't turn out to have directly provided material support for Ukraine's ethnic cleansing.

I continue to pray for the nation and people of Ukraine.

Putin is EVIL and is wrong in his War on Ukraine. saxi fails to respond to this point.

Putin is being humiliated by the Ukrainian resistance. His invasion was a total miscalculation and now he’s boxed himself into a corner where his only options are to withdraw or double down. He will choose the later and that will be a further mistake. It’s only a matter of time before he’ll be removed by someone near to him. The sooner the better for everyone.
