Furthermore, one cannot abort something at or near the end of its existence, only at or near the beginning.

If one wanted to abort Summer (assuming he even could), it would need to be done near the time of Litha (21 June), Beltaine (1 May), or Memorial Day (late May), depending on how one chooses to recognize the start of Summer.

I suspect Confederate SS was in fact suggesting a symbolic euthanization of Summer, performed by none other than Time itself!

-------I did not say Summer...that runs through the 21st....I said Summer Fun...Kids go back to school...The The Temperature drops...Here it went from 90 to 70...In the past 20 years...On Halloween...Only 2 times was it nice(low 60's, Sunny)...as the kids hit the streets Trick /Treating...Cold ,most times raining...Once snowed,with the freezing rain...
-------- People are done with Vacations....They close their own swimming pools....
