Assassins Super League

Post by chipv »

Not sure if we will have enough interest but here goes.

We could organise another automated Super League for fans of Assassin Games. I was thinking 6p but we could poll on that later.

I'd like to guage interest (if there are enough responses, we could invest effort in setting this up)

Please vote on settings (any vote will also indicate interest by default)

We'll aim for a relaxed schedule for this so long season low game load.

Yea, 6 sounds great, more player may create issue with some home map, the full map list will have to be carefully review to ensure it would fit the amount of players per game.

None of the less, I’m in favor of adding another kind of Super League.

Yep, agreed, I can do it, but would take a bit of extra effort so need to know how many people are up for it and was hoping for more votes here.

I was thinking of smaller leagues and a simple scoring system.

The easiest would be to do like 6p divisions, that would make it easiest, either that or 12p, or maybe 9p?

And like I have said chip, the forums is dead, only way to find out is to make a signup thread, then I send out promo DM, and you send DM to the other super leagues, and then we see what the interest for it would be.
I bet it would draw more players then poly, thats what my gut is telling me, but it depends on how we do the setup.

So yeah, lets brainstorm how the format will work chipv, then you make the signup thread (and in that thread we say that it will not start if there is not enough interest, and we also put start date of S0 like July or something, so you have time to set it up if it starts)
What do you think of that? IMHO that's how we should proceed.
Highscore : 4349 Date : 17.6.12
Rank : 6 Date : 13.6.12

Highscore after comeback : 3985 Date : 18.7.25
Rank : 9 Date : 18.7.25

Yes 6p leagues would be easier to organise.

I do need some input on scoring system and promotions but it will take effort as it won't run the same as 1v1

We are considering the following scoring system, comments welcome:

3pts for assassinating correct target.
2pts for winning via objective.
1pt for survival without assassination or winning via objective.
0pts for death (assassination or someone else winning via objective).
-3pts for assassinating incorrect target.

What do you mean with this: "1pt for survival without assassination or winning via objective."

1pt if you are alive at game end but the assassin/game winner does not get this extra point.

I'm not sure i would want to award not being killed, lol. Same goes for winning an assassin game through getting the map objective actually.

In the very least I would then give more points for winning the proper way, say 4pts?

The problem I have experience with awarding 1 point for not being assasinated is.

Player knows they cant win, so he weakens someone else on purpose so they get killed instead of themselves.

Well, I take your points, both of you, but any scoring system needs multiple ways of scoring points otherwise people will just run away with it and no chance of catching them up.

Weakening someone else so you survive also gifts the maximum points to their assassin which they may not have been able to achieve otherwise.

We could do

4 for correct kill
2 for obj or winner after round limit
1 for survival
0 for death
-4 for incorrect kill

More thoughts for comment:

League size will be six - that will allow for more players to join than sizes of 12 and 18 etc.

Round Length 20.
6p
Auto
Sequential
Fog
Escalating
Parachute
No Trench

Everyone has a home map. Each league of 6 plays twice on every home map and we'll add 1 random map per week for a total of 18 games per season.

We do want to keep this load light so perhaps we'll just dispatch 1 random map + 2 different home maps per week spread over 6 weeks and we can take our time over completion

I am also considering banning maps that are not aligned with assassin and are likely to always stalemate (e.g. Spanish Armada, Das Schloss, Hive).

Comments welcome

If it's escalating, no map will be a stalemate. After 1 round of cashing, spoils will be 20, so no map wlll take long.

Escalating is better than flat rate for sure to avoid stalemates.

I like the setup and game load, very manageable for most players.

6 players per league makes it better as well.

Let's do it

I think perhaps we do a seeding tournament to figure out

a) How many people are interested
b) Starting leagues for everyone

by sending out some random maps with these settings
