What we find particularly galling is that Trump berated Europe (including the UK) for not joining in, having not asked for support before starting the attack. It was the only sensible thing Starmer did during his tenure as PM.
Iran could be another Afghanistan. Got rid of the Shah, got the Ayatollahs, now trying to remove the Ayatollahs. His only option was to install a puppet, or at least pro-western, government, but the opposition wasn't strong enough. I think his hubris - which is absolutely monumental, and is probably inflated by those around him (since he sacks everyone who disagrees with him) often gets in the way of good judgement.
Reagan's legacy is somewhat tainted by his description of the Contras as "freedom fighters" rather than "terrorists"; more than one organisation in the middle east could claim to be the former but is treated by outsiders as the latter.
As I've said many times, neither side has the high ground in the Israel-Palestine conflict; I don't think Israel has the moral high ground here either, which is another reason why they won't get far, and they're not doing much for the cause of anti-semitism by being aggressive to their neighbours.
One does, however, have to have total respect for Mossad - perhaps it will be down to them if Israel are to come out on top.
