I do not know where you have been, ConFedSs, but at the COMPREHENSIVE Public School I taught for most of my career, we taught skills for electricians and carpenters (no, not plumbers), and other trades, such as HVAC and Auto work. We also trained future workers in Hair Care, Nursing and Health Care, and other programs, too. Keeping guys and ladies teaching in those skills programs was TOUGH, but we did find some.

We knew that NOT everyone at our school was going to College and we prepared them for life and for careers immediately AFTER high school. And Yes, we did have some go to College and I taught them Chemistry, Physics, and even AP Chemistry, the equivalent of a freshman Chemistry course in College. As I said, we were a Comprehensive High School. Did we meet with success for ALL our students? NO, but many were successful in many careers.

Many males do find jobs in careers where working with one's hands, those trades I mentioned, and they can earn a decent income or wage. I think the recent statistics I reviewed suggested most males to that type of training and work. Most (or many) females prepare for college. And of course, some did drop out; we did not meet with 100% success. Some barely graduated; some find meaningful work after graduation, and some do not.

When government actually work, we pay slightly more in taxes so the gov't can pay for things. Then as citizens, we get to enjoy those things the government paid for. Yes CA has high gas taxes and now the highways are great and LA isn't smoggy anymore because we've cleaned up the air. These isn't some tragic tale of politicians overruling the will of the people, it was an amendment passed directly by voters in CA because we like clean air and good roads and understand it has to be paid for somehow.

These tax dollars aren't being spent bombing schools in Iran, or shutting down free trade, or supporting genocide in Gaza... they are used to fix highways and roads. They aren't being used by an egomaniac to promote his personal financial interests, or to settle his personal grudges. These taxes don't cause the price of diesel to go from $3.60 under Biden to $6.50 under the one I'm not allowed to talk about or I will be marked as mentally insane by the cultists.
