So what? You're doing it in the name of celebrating a pagan ritual, which is the salient point, and is therefore hypocritical.
“The Church has placed no restrictions on the celebration of Halloween. Contrary to what many people think, All Hollow’s Eve (Halloween) is not an evil, pagan festival. It’s actually a centuries-old Christian feast celebrated on the evening preceding All Saints Day (November 1) in commemoration of all the saints in heaven, known and unknown.”
• The New Year: Samhain marked the end of the harvest season and the start of the Celtic New Year on November 1.
• The Thin Veil: The Celts believed that on the night of October 31, the boundary between the living and the spirit world blurred, allowing ghosts and supernatural beings to cross over.
• Ward Off Spirits: People lit large sacred bonfires, offered crops or animals, and wore animal skins and masks to disguise themselves so wandering spirits would not harm them.
Christian Influence and "All Hallows' Eve"
• All Saints' Day: In the 8th century, Pope Gregory III moved All Saints' Day (a festival honoring all saints and martyrs) to November 1.
• All Hallows' Eve: The evening before November 1 became known as All Hallows' Eve, which eventually turned into the word Halloween.
• All Souls' Day: The church later added All Souls' Day on November 2 as a day to pray for the dead, blending older pagan customs with Christian observances.
Yet another pagan festival (including the most important two) hijacked by the church.

The Catholic Church did this ONLY for Ireland, a small land on the FRINGE of Europe? Interesting.
What's your source for this?
Historically, the event that "moved" was the Christian feast of All Saints' Day (also known as All Hallows' Day).
• Originally celebrated in May, Pope Gregory III shifted All Saints' Day to November 1st in the 8th century.
• Because of this shift, the night before became All Hallows' Eve (which shortened to Halloween) on October 31st.
• This timeline applied to the entire Western Christian church, not just Ireland.

I understand that this change is for the entire church; the question is did the Pope do this ONLY because of Ireland?

It was changed by Pope Gregory III (741) to November 1, the day of the "Dedication" of the Chapel of All Saints in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Later, in the year 840, Pope Gregory IV ordered the feast of "All Saints" to be celebrated universally.
Simple. Just like Christmas, Halloween has pagan roots that were blended with Christian traditions long before the Reformation. Basically, a compromise to keep everybody happy.

Yes and no.
Key Reasons for Co-opting Pagan Festivals
• Easier Conversion and Acceptance: As Christianity expanded across the Roman Empire and Europe, church leaders found that entirely banning popular local celebrations caused deep resistance and civil unrest. By rebranding existing festivals with Christian meanings, the transition felt less disruptive to new converts.
• Cultural Assimilation over Destruction: Rather than wiping out local customs, church authorities often chose to "purify" them. For example, in 601 AD, Pope Gregory I wrote instructions to missionaries in England advising them not to destroy pagan temples, but to re-dedicate them as Christian churches and turn traditional feast days into celebrations of Christian saints and martyrs.
• Disguising Continuity as Transformation: Keeping familiar dates, feasting, lights, greenery, and social gatherings allowed people to keep their social rhythms intact while shifting their spiritual focus toward Christ, the saints, or biblical events.

What is does confirm is that the chances of any event happening when the church says it happened are pretty much zero...much like the chances of it having happened at all.
“Church”? Which one? Cowboy church? Church of the divine orthodox Muslim bombers? You are correct, getting info from “church” is like ratpack getting his info from YouTube.

The discussion has been about what the Pope did. That suggests we're talking about the Catholic church.
