Kevin Garnett to the Celtics!!

Post by dcowboys055 »

The greatest team in NBA history (Boston Celtics) received Kevin Garnett in a trade, giving them a modern day "big three" of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett. (the old days big three being Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parish) This rockets them to the elite of the watered down eastern conference and makes them a serious contender. The odds of them winning the NBA Championship next year were at 70:1 before the trade and are now at 15:1.....

So-what does everyone have to say about that?

Kevin Garnett is too old, Paul Pierce is overrated, and Ray Allen should've stayed with the Sonics... They may go a little ways in the Eastern Conference, cause like you said it is weak. But they will never beat any teams like the pistons, or even the heat I'd say. Let alone in the Western Conference.

I didn't expect anyone to agree with me, i created the thread solely for the purpose of having it to go find and bump when the Celtics win the title.

Does that mean we can bump it every year UNTIL the celtics win? Because I don't see this particular group winning a title, which means their next title is at least 5 years away (barring a major deal)

To tell you the truth, i think the Timberwolves might have gotten the better of the deal. It was definately a rebuilding transaction, and once Jefferson, Green, and Gomes mature, they'll be quite the trio. Plus they got Telfair who is also reallly young and showed alot of talent when he played for the Trailblaizers, and Ratliff is an experience Veteran who was with the Sixers when they used to go deep in the playoffs.

Not to mention 2 1st round picks the next couple of years...

Also, im pretty sure that the production of at least two if not all three of Boston's stars will decrease. Its very similar to the Iverson situtaion last year. On the Sixers, he was one of the biggest stars in the NBA because he was a one man team. But as soon as he went to the Nuggets with some other big players, he still was a good player, but wasnt given the same opportunities as when he was on Philly.

I have to agree with gold knight on this one i am a timberwolves fan, yes i think that the celtics will be good now but missing those two first round draft picks they will not be good down the road... The timberwolves got the better end of the deal getting five young players (Al Jefferson, Gerald Green and Ryan Gomes,Sebastian Telfair,Theo Ratliff, two first-round draft picks and cash considerations)

Thoe Ratliff is actually pretty old, but besides that, your completely right. I still belive that Boston will lack some speed, seeing as they have 6'7" SG Paul Pierce and no standout PG.

They will win the championship as long as they have the greatest referee in history (Tim Donaghy) officiating all their games.

I'm waiting for the next giant brawl involving Detroit Piston fans. I'm sure Serbia was involved in the last one versus the Pacers, but I have no concrete proof yet.

lmao. Did anyone else that in the Pacers/Pistons brawl, when Artest went running into the stands after that one guy... You can see him, and he's just staring dumbstruck at Artest, and he mouths, "oh shit" and then get's clocked. That cracked me up.

The warriors are going to dominate this year by the way.

Dude, if I HAD been down there, I'd just be getting out of jail now.

As far as the Celtics go, I expect this year they make the playoffs, which shouldn't be too hard, they ARE in the East. Their division has the Nets and Raptors, right? Are you going to say that Boston has NO CHANCE of winning in that division? So if they get a top seed, I can see them playing an Orlando or Indiana, and making the second round. If they get to play the Pistons, they could even pull off that upset. (I think Detroit needs to make a move to get back to the Finals again)

Anyway, I really don't like basketball, but I do hope Boston does well.

Name an overrated player that doesnt suck... :?

And yes, he has a hot sister (AJ Hawk's fiancee, FYI), and he got so used to seeing men around the house that he grew accostumed to the old sausage :D

But back on topic, they serve Italian Sausage at the Celtics games and they are SOOOO expensive.

DeAngelo Hall
Roy Williams (DB for Dallas)
Brian Urlacher
Tony Rom....Oh wait, he sucks ass

are just a few off the top of my mind who are very overrated, but they are still good players (ok, maybe not Roy Williams)

I cant even belive you called Urlacher overrated... you gotta be out of your mind. Get this, Im a Packer Fan, same division as the Bears, and everytime i watch their games i watch Urlacher. Try watching him, run to wither sideline, brushing off 2-3 blockers, and pounding the shit out of anyone near the ball.

Roy Williams is one of the hardest hitters in football, and ive never heard him called a great coverage man, so id say hes rated just fine.

Hall is still young, yet he covers the #1 recevier of all the teams he faces, and still does fairly well. He is the closest out of the bunch you chose to support your argument.
