The PS3, the downfall of sony, TRUE?!

It wont be the downfall of Sony because the company can pay off any debts the PS3 brings. However, its could easily be the beggining of the end for the Sony gaming section because it has been outsold by the 360 and the Wii by 2:1, and has been heavily criticised.

The guy who said PS3 is in its infancy has a point, the last statistics i heard were that the PS3 is using very little of its complete capacity for games. I HEARD it was under 50%(True?). But by January 08,games on the PS3 will be twice, up to 3 times bigger than Xbox games. Twice as big as the Wii.

PS3 won't be the downfall of sony, as the company, last time I checked, is quite a conglomerate with many other assets and resources. They may stray away from console gaming, but they'll still be making millions and millions, and they'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Really? I hear they have shit products, just the other day my dad bought a CD player from them and it didn't work on the car ride home. Traded it in for a different one, same problem. They need to stop jacking off Blu-Ray and get with the program.

I didn't say anything about their products being top of the line or good...or bad, etc. I'm simply saying, they'll still make millions and millions just because of the brand name. The company won't take much of a hit at all.

yes it could be the downfall of sony's game division.

It costs sony about $900 to make a PS3.

Blu-ray will not win.

Sony keeps making stupid remarks at press conferences.

Sony sucks at exclusivity. ATM there is one good exclusive game. Sure there are a few exclusive titles in the making right now, but nowhere near enough to pull sony out of the hole. And sony doesn't look to good right now to nab that many exclusives in the future.

Microsoft and Nintendo are both pulling the big guns in this generation.

The games you listed are pretty rubbish, which is normal for a launch line-up. The real difference will come next year, when developers actually spread their wings.

yeah it was, but the sonyholics are sacrificing children in ritual of the trailer for the sequel, they have their hopes up for that one.

Sony has been losing money ever since the release of the PS2, people just didn't realise it. Now, they're on a crash course with bankruptcy.

PS3's the best.

I'm pretty sure the PS2 was a profitable venture for Sony overall. They sold at a loss originally I think, but I don't think it remained that way for long.

However even despite Microsoft's seeming success they're still running at a huge loss. I can't see Microsoft sticking out another generation unless they turn profitable before the end of this one. Well maybe one more generation. They've gained a hell of a lot of market share this gen and probably don't want to throw all their efforts away.

PS3 is also currently losing money, but Sony seem to have tighter control on their spending than Microsoft generally so they'll probably turn that around. Nintendo are the only ones in the market making money right now.

yeah they can afford it but when they realize that they're no point in keeping it because there's no hope for profit in the future they'll have to drop it

Oblivion is on both consoles. And I've seen it played on both consoles.
It does look better (albeit, slightly) on the PS3.
