Being evacuated

Post by OnlyAmbrose »

Dont know how many of you are familiar with the California fires going on right now, but my neighborhood is preparing to evacuate in about an hour, so if I don't show up for awhile worry not, im still here. Forgive my missed turns if i dont get access to a computer.

You may want to cut and paste that into the chat of your games. Not everyone goes to the forums. Shocker I know.

I don't watch the news, nor read the paper, just post on CC. Though if it is in SAn Deigo then that might explain why.

Yeah in the Rancho Bernardo section to be specific.

I heard that firefighters believe some of them may merge into one big one. It may turn out to be the largest (not most destructive just largest) fire in California history. I hope not.

Last I heard, over 250,000 misplaced. I'm one of the lucky ones, but I've had fires on three sides of my home in the last 48 hours.

Good luck OnlyAmbrose!

hey everyone im at school right now so i have access to a computer. just a quick update for everyone (and i just posted in all my games thanks for the tips)

we evacuated last night, when the flames were pretty much up against our backyards. To anyone following the news, I live in the Foothill Ranch area in Orange County. Right now they say they have 30% containment. We're currently living in my grandparents' house, and the news hasn't reported any lost homes so we're hoping for the best. From the looks of it the situation by my house is fairly well under control. We don't have any news on when we can get back home, so again my computer access will be limited.

Suspected cause of the fire is arson. Makes me wonder what kind of sick minded person would do this while there were so many other fires and while weather conditions are so bad. Sick sick sick...

Thanks for the prayers, I'm sure the 250,000 other people would appreciate them too :)

@ Fircoal - there's like 15 fires going on in Cali right now, just turn on any news station and you'll get coverage, it's basically the only story right now.

Arson doesn't always mean that it was intentionally started with intent to destroy. It could have been kids playing with matches in some dry area. In terms of forest fires/wild fires (whatever you call them) all it means is that it was started by humans, not by nature.

I know thats not much comfort, but I figured I should set you straight.

Stay safe OA and piestar... Thankfully the fires aren't close to central LA or too much of coastal OC (the former my hood, the latter where my dad and massive stepfamily live), but the sky's full of smoke and the sunlight's weird and it's just as apocalyptic-looking as it was in 2003.

gl to you guys and any other CCers in the line of fire.

Oh, and not to be a schmuck, but to everyone praying for rain: rain after huge fires = horrible mudslides. If we're petitioning the weather gods, let's pray that the winds die down and stay down.
