December 5th, A Day To Celebrate !

Post by Iz Man »

In the U.S., at least.........

For it was on this day in 1933 that the 21st Amendment to the Constitution was ratified; repealing the 18th Amendment, and thus ending one of the most pathetic examples of government intervention in personal lives.....

This, of course, being prohibition.

So raise a pint and enjoy it, for believe it or not, there was a time when you weren't allowed to enjoy a cold glass of suds after mowing the lawn on a hot summer day.......

This should serve as a reminder to all that outlawing something doesn't stop it from happening. Believe me, all Americans were still enjoying their cold ones before mowing regardless.

Reminds me of a song that is often sung at the local football/basket ball games (University of course).

In Heaven there is no beer, that's why we drink it here, and when we've gone from here, our friends will be drinkin' all our beer!

Then a little instumental from the band, then repeat.
"Eh, whatever."

Actually, drinking alcohol, believe it or not, was still legal. Only the transporting, making, and selling of it was illegal. The wording was a little iffy, eh?

I said before. You don't want to get drunk as you mow, you need to do a consistantly bad job or it won't look right. You have one of those really messed up back yards don't you?

It varies in length, from about 2 inches to 2 feet. Plus, the dog absolutely destroys the grass with his mess. Damn dog.

::Leaves beer on table, drinks while mowing past table... sometimes makes trips to table just to drink::

There isn't much grass near the table...

And I will be getting shitty tonight in celebration. Warn the creationists...

Yall remember how pointless outlawing the sale/transport/manufacture of alcohol? Just keep in mind, it's JUST AS ridiculous outlawing Pot. ;)

Don't be ridiculous, my country has pretty much legalized pot and that is why we have the highest amount of people who use it. (well, except for most european countries and the USA. But still.....
