ok thanks, and yea i agree about the graphics, and it is kinda hard to tell that marshes of morva arent part of aeddan, same for the red fallows (both are not part of any cont), so ill change the colors of those to, got any suggestion of what color they should be? And prydain is a land from a book series, ill try to get Taranwandrer to come here and tell u what it is if u want.Balsiefen wrote:Hmm, nice. What is prydian?
Anyway, a few suggestions to start with:
-all the territories in the south are indestuinguishable continent-wise. While you may want to have all the terrs different shades of the same colour it would proberbly be best to put a dark one inbetweeen any two light ones.
-simularity in colour you cant tell the bonus reagons apart.
-lose the join between colls lands and the title, it looks strange
-the text under the impassable legend is unreadable
-if the marshes of morva are part of the aeddan cont (i cant tell) it should be joined
-graphics are good but neeed a few tweaks but that can come later.

the author is dead, and i did read itoaktown wrote:please read the "How to Make a Map" thread and include the required basic info on the first post.

And I bet you don't have permission from the author to do this.
You may have read it, but you didn't follow the instructions for how to start a new thread... most people don't, and I point it out whenever I catch it. We need basic info like # of starting territories, source material, special features, etc. Without that info I and many others won't take a new project seriously.bryguy wrote:the author is dead, and i did read it

ok i missed the part about the # of territories and that stuff, but the copyright shouldnt be a problem cause i (as far as i can tell) changed the map so it only slightly resembles it, and thanks for the heads upoaktown wrote:You may have read it, but you didn't follow the instructions for how to start a new thread... most people don't, and I point it out whenever I catch it. And just because the author is dead does not mean you can copy his work. The midkemia map was pulled from the site for using copyrighted material - likewise this map is based on an author's work and is not your intellectual property. You will either need to obtain written permission from the holder of the copyright (the author's estate and/or the publisher) or you will have to significantly change the name of every territory so they are not recognizable as being based on another work.
I'm not trying to shut this project down Bryguy, I'm just trying to give you heads-up as to what it will take to progress through the Foundry.
You can't use somebody else's work without permission, even if you tweak the map. For starters you can't use the words Prydain, Gwythaint, Pryderi, Forest of Idris, Morva, Aeddan, etc. This is all somebody else's copyrighted work.bryguy wrote:ok i missed the part about the # of territories and that stuff, but the copyright shouldnt be a problem cause i (as far as i can tell) changed the map so it only slightly resembles it, and thanks for the heads up

No, he will have to get permission from the owners of the copyright. Myself, i am hopeful he will get it as it is similar types of stuff that usually gets through copyright (Discworld, Middle Earth, tamrael)oaktown wrote:You can't use somebody else's work without permission, even if you tweak the map. As for the poll, it will only disappear if you PM a mod (Coleman).
yea originally i was gonna ask, but i couldnt figure out HOW to askBalsiefen wrote:No, he will have to get permission from the owners of the copyright. Discworld: I haven't a clue
If Bryguy wants to make this map a reality he will need to contact the company that publishes the Prydain books and ask for written permission to use specific material. They may be happy for the exposure, or they may require a licensing fee, which I doubt the site will pay. After the midkemia incident, I doubt this map will allowed to leave Map Ideas without permission from the publisher.
