pixelation currently is a bit of a problem as it reminds me of brazil, which is flat out ugly.

i agree with wisse about the border shading

u could try a bit more texturing just to keep it from turning out like another brazil map.

Im getting very mixed comments...im not really sure what to do.

Some say the lines are bad. RK says the BG is bad. Some say the fading is bad. SOme just dont like it at all. What should i do?

I think you need a graphics program that can do something called a brush blur. Not sure, I'm not a real big graphics guy, I am doing my best to figure it out so I can answer better, but I didn't want to leave you without anything to go off of.

Anyway, if you can find that you can go over all the borders with it and people should like them a lot better.

NO offense but the texture suggestino is just plain retarded. Brazil is ugly because of the texture and the pixels..

Hi Klap, I decided to take a good look over your map to help you out.

1. To re do the boarders take your desired size of brush (id advise 1-2px but dont go over 4px) zoom your image in 1600% and work round your boarders that way, its muh slower work but it produces much clearer results. When doing boarders never go over the same line twice.

2. Id advise bolding the font of all typography. You have a very strong feel coming frm this map, much like the europe map, and the font looks to weak and unsuitable.

3. The font used for the continent names looks good buts its really messy and pixated. Either tidy it up or change the font. I personally prefer if you jsut tidied it up.

4. Also will you consider mong your sig to the bottom and using the extra space to make hte title bigger. And maybe change thte title color a little to help it stand out more.

5. What are the letters/symbols? in hte bottom right hand conver for? do they have any prurpose? if not i believe you would be better woithout them.

6. Fot texture i wouldnt worry about it to much at hte moment. Lets jsut get te map crisp and tidy and moved into the main foundry.

7. The army circles stick out a little to much id make the opacity of them no more that 10%.

That is all for me at hte moment klap, feel free to veto any of my ideas

Im not sure if i have that in PaintShopPro...it kinda sucks. I will look for one, and i cant find it i will try another way to do this.

Idk, i thought it was a cool idea. Whats the difference between this, and every other map that has no unique xml features. Its just a different shape, and different gameplay.

At the moment you're lacking a significant enough amount of apparent support for me to justify moving this out of Map Ideas. That's really all that is holding you back for me.

I don't really get this map either, but it looks fairly nice.

I actually like this map, good layout, nice background, enough territories, so yea i think its a pretty good map. And if it ever gets made into a map that everyone can play then i will play it as soon as i can.

the one thing i dont get is why is the map upside down? cause for the map the compas is pointing towards south (idk if i spelled compas wrong but oh well)

New update....

I changed the borders, making them less pixelated (hopefully this is good now

).
I changed the bg. (can be changed back)
I changed attack lines
I edited the continent font
I fixed the army circles
I did not change the text, although gimil thinks that this has a strong feeling like Europe, i disagree....but if anyone else thinks so, i will look at other options.
I did not add texture. Trying to keep this plain and simple. But not too simple, i kept the shading.

Ok, I'll give some things to work on...

1) The borders are still pixely...maybe you can try to Smudge them a bit
2) the background isn't a real improvement to me...it's to dark and doesn't looks like an ocean...
3)Your font colour are completely lost in your background...
4)play around with some new fonts...
5)A purple outer glow on a purple background reads difficult...
6)your compass...why did you add the 'outh' in plain white? It doesn't look good there... (wouldn't it be more logical if you put the arrow down and write 'N' under it...)
7) your Legend is to small, it's like the continents fall out...there is still room to make the square bigger...
8.) I don't think it's necessary to put a sea-way between the island and the land of Venezu(a)ela...the white Dot seems weird there...Maybe just find another solution to your sea-ways...

north africa is south of south africa by your map.

same for northern europe and southern europe.

you could at least keep your direction constant.

here we go again klap

1. The terr boarder are MUCH better but still need a little work. However this isnt important at the moment.

2. The outer boarder of all continents are still very pixalated and must be smothed out.

3. Sea routes definetly need to be fixed

4. The continetns names are very messy and inconsistant they must be retyped.

5. The outglow oyu have used in everything (Continents and terr names) is to strong. May i suggested increaseing the spread a little and reduceing the opacity for the continents? and jsut reducing hte opcaity on hte terr names?

6. The backgronds nice but it doesnt fit with your continents i suggest you play around a little more.

7. I undrstand what your trying to do with keeping hte texture to a low but you really need a little texture to blend everything in. If you want to kep it sutle then try using the noise filter and then use pleenty of blu to make it discreat.

8. The new title doesnt fit with te rest of teh map

9. Increase the box size so that nothing is hanging out the bevel. and maybe reduce that bevel a little as well.

10. The blue color of the europe continet is 2 bright it needs to be dulled down a little to fit with the other colors

Kaplowitz....forgive me if i missed something reading through this....but can you give us an explanation of the idea of this map i.e. what was your thinking when you first thgouht about this and why the continents are so mixed up...i am like some others who are failing to grab the point of the map.

the borders are fine, no one should attempt to "smudge" or "blur" borders to make them less pixelated. The proper terminology would be to 'smooth' the borders, relatively easy to do in PS.
