The Bible is God's Word, written down by men who were directly inspired by God as to what to include.BigBallinStalin wrote:Until NS can answer the following (and then deal with the consequent problems), then his argument is not logical.
Or did you mean to say that someone who was not God said that God told him that?
And how do those that were not directly inspired tell the difference between those who were genuinely inspired by God and those (maybe agents of Satan) who are lying in order to try and influence things for evil ends?Night Strike wrote:The Bible is God's Word, written down by men who were directly inspired by God as to what to include.BigBallinStalin wrote:Until NS can answer the following (and then deal with the consequent problems), then his argument is not logical.

Which Bible? Which books in that Bible? Which translation?Night Strike wrote:The Bible is God's Word, written down by men who were directly inspired by God as to what to include.BigBallinStalin wrote:Until NS can answer the following (and then deal with the consequent problems), then his argument is not logical.

No, I'm not making that assumption. What I am stating is that God created humans with those natural instincts.Night Strike wrote:You're assuming those natural instincts are not also sinful.Woodruff wrote:Two questions for you:
You're equating homosexuals wanting to follow their body's natural inclination to have sex to an addiction?
Did God create homosexuals with the desire to follow their body's natural instincts or not?
You're dancing around my point. As you say, it's natural for any person to desire sex. That is because God created humans with that instinct. Yet God is punishing those who act on the instincts (the desire for sex) which he created in them. It's like he's trying to set humans up to fail.Night Strike wrote:It's natural for any person to desire sex, yet God states that the only holy relationship is that which is between one man and one woman in a marriage covenant.
I don't at all believe that Symmetry was implying that he was.Night Strike wrote:Jesus did not have sexual relations with his disciples.Symmetry wrote:Does He? Furthermore, was Jesus' relationship with his disciples not holy?
Don't remeber who said this, but one of the best quotes I've heard about this is that humans are "created sick and commanded to be sound".Woodruff wrote:It's like he's trying to set humans up to fail.
This sounded familiar to me too. I don't know where you heard it from, but I wonder if I first heard it in an Elizabethan literature class as younger lad. Google Search came up with an excerpt from Fulke Greville's Mustapha: http://www.luminarium.org/renlit/mustapha.htmHaggis_McMutton wrote:Don't remeber who said this, but one of the best quotes I've heard about this is that humans are "created sick and commanded to be sound".Woodruff wrote:It's like he's trying to set humans up to fail.
I found Christopher Hitchens as the source.AndyDufresne wrote:This sounded familiar to me too. Jay's right! Clearly, God selected many transmitters of his Word, which is his Word yet contradictory in relation to his Other Words.jay_a2j wrote:crispybits wrote:And how do those that were not directly inspired tell the difference between those who were genuinely inspired by God and those (maybe agents of Satan) who are lying in order to try and influence things for evil ends?Night Strike wrote:The Bible is God's Word, written down by men who were directly inspired by God as to what to include.BigBallinStalin wrote:Until NS can answer the following (and then deal with the consequent problems), then his argument is not logical.

Do you not believe that God would choose people who HE KNEW would be obedient and write down what God wanted written down????? Seeing He is all knowing and knew what they would write down even before they were born????
Thus, the "how do you know they didn't make mistakes" is a fail.
Try reading properly before you so quickly declare a fail.jay_a2j wrote:crispybits wrote:And how do those that were not directly inspired tell the difference between those who were genuinely inspired by God and those (maybe agents of Satan) who are lying in order to try and influence things for evil ends?Night Strike wrote:The Bible is God's Word, written down by men who were directly inspired by God as to what to include.BigBallinStalin wrote:Until NS can answer the following (and then deal with the consequent problems), then his argument is not logical.
