Classic, France and Canada (and i´m sure there are many more) have same bonus system, each 2 boni giving a +2 bonus, always one with 1 area border and 1 area with 2 borders. I still say USA is the worst piece of crap ever made. Only one bonus comes into play. I hate that map. And yet I still see decent players playing it. Strange. I HATE USA MAP. It's worse than draknor, its worse than disc world, its worse than usa apoc. It's just the worst.

I'll have to start playing a couple of the maps that have come out over the past couple of months...so I can form an opinion on those---and see how they do against maps I like and dislike...

On france the 1 area is part of the bonus, not like siam on classic where you have to go through it to get to where you can break. Anyway, without too much analysis, USA just seem extremely different from france or classic. I'm not sure what it is, but that second bonus never comes into play. It's always just whoever drops the top right, or gets better dice up there. world and great lakes are kind of the same. I don't think theres more skill in bigger maps like a lot of people do. I think its just more armies, more clicking, and a longer game. Playing world 2.1 just annoys me. Its the same as playing 3 games on classic.
So youre actually suggesting, that having more armies, more bonuses, more areas of attacks, more areas to fort, multiple more decisions to make, all directly affecting the outcome of the game doesnt mean more strategy...
What then is your definition of strategy....having very few options and picking the best one....but picking from more means less?
I understand where youre coming from, and believe me, many underestimate the map, and I think its because it does just appear to be a blow up of classic, but I assure you, I, and the many who play it often, some exclusively have learned otherwise, and essentially it comes down to scale, and percentages. Its size is geometrically bigger than many maps, it means that while your starting bonus is much bigger than other maps, its affect is often not similarly bigger. Usually, on a 1v1, player one gets 12, and player 2 gets 11....the dice then mean much more than these numbers, and more importantly, how they are used, where they are used, where they are forted, means much more than the numbers themselves. Many do become blowouts, but that is true of all maps...the difference here is, you have more options, more armies, and more time, to inch your way back from a bad round, or more importantly one bad roll...which is simply unrecoverable on a great many maps.
Really though, seeing is believing... only those that have played it enough come to realize this, and those that play it often, usually keep playing it. I honestly stumbled on world, simply because I liked playing it, and due to the fact that it does tend to work with my rather aggressive playing style anyways.
If nothing else, world at least gives you some time to have fun with it, even if you are losing, as opposed to a small map where you drop on one place every turn, and hope to get a good roll...often that place is predetermined, and you might as well be a computer playing, and might as well have flipped a coin to decide the outcome. That can happen on world too, just less often.

Agree-expecialy for Classic Art map,who after mine investigation(when i create Map Maker Index),i find that this map create CA and "elite" map maker,and they spend one day in creation of this map.When i say to hem that this is not correct to other map maker,they only laught on me,and show that they have power to do what every they want,and what is worst 6 map maker get medal for this one map. this map brake all rules in Map foundry,and only because they Mods(CA -cartographer assistant-man in blue)they can brake rules.All other map maker need to be kick in ass for 6 month to create map who need to pass all required thing-gameplay-graphic-xml-people support,but only this map no need to have this.by The Neon Peon » Thu Oct 15, 2009 1:20 am
In my opinion, the worst map by far is Classic/Classic Shapes/Classic Art/World Cities. I personally don't think it should even be a part of the site.
