Gist of the story - Obama touts New Chet's Restaurant in Toledo, Ohio as being an indirect beneficiary of the government's Chrysler bailout last week. This week, the restaurant announces it's shuttering up on Sunday.

Undoubtedly, the Tea Party Death Squads are behind this. Anything to embarrass old Barry, eh? THEY KNOW NO SHAME

I had never even heard of the Detroit News until I read this thread. But I followed your link and while I was there, this story caught my eye:

Obama plugged the restaurant n a bunch of people came to eat there and then said it wasn't fair they should have to pay for their food.

It would be funnier if Obama had not been blaming everyone else for his own trillion dollar problems.

I only wish that restaurants, traffic, and cheating gf's were the most important things to complain about.

Obama specifically mentioned the restaurant being an indirect beneficiary of his bailout of the automakers. A couple days after that mention, the store announces it was closing. If Obama hadn't tried to take credit for the business's perceived success, then he wouldn't have even been mentioned when the store announced it was closing. Obama injected himself into the restaurant's situation; it wasn't his critics who tied him to the restaurant.

So it's perfectly ok for Obama to take credit for keeping the restaurant open (which he did do), but it's not ok for critics to blame him for its closing?? Yep, really consistent position to take. :roll:

Not to split hairs or anything, but he was blamed for the horrendous (lack of a) response to the devastation the hurricane caused, not the actual storm itself.

I'll assume you were being facetious, though. because the alternative is kinda depressing.
