So uh... when police are in 'defense'... alone while surrounded by a violent mob... and their lives are actually in danger... it's NOT ok for them to shoot
...but when they are on offense... after a dozen of them face have pinned him to the ground and ensures he isn't a danger to anyone...they can shoot a man from behind

So are you saying the cops should have raised the white flag? They were surrounded by as you say violent protesters. Maybe there weren't 10 cops on him but to be safe he was shot in the back. According to a doctor's affidavit indicated at least three bullet wounds in his back. There were additional wounds to his chest and neck.
I bet you are going to say he wasn't shot from behind, he was shot from above.
