Seems that neither the author of the article or you takes this all that seriouslly, but it's worth taking a look at how obesity is detrimental to the environment, and how the same policies designed to give us more food than we need contribute to both.

It's easy to see the amount of fuel it takes to create food by seeing how the recent fuel shock is causing a concordant food price shock. In fact, it's estimated that 127 calories of energy are needed to bring a single calorie of lettuce across the Atlantic, not to mention three calories for every single calorie we eat in the current food production system (Check it, a citation!) all this to create all the cheap (for the moment) food that our ground cqn produce. This promotes obesity as well as environmental damage, as well as being one small facet of the effect that conventional food production methods have on the environment.

I don't really take it all that seriously. I just wanted to start a topic about two of the world's biggest (haha, get it?) problems, fat people and global warming.

shut that one off after about 5 minutes, maybe 10. it was so fucking stupid, and i was a huge fan at the time too.

in fact, Borat kind of pissed me off too, even though i died laughing. i just thought it was going to be presented as a documentary. like a Blair Witch kind of thing, but there were too many "movie moments" in it that were obviously written and staged, not improvised like the show was.

for example -- consider the Bear. like when the kids come running up to the ice cream truck and run away screaming. it was a great image, and funny. but knowing that it had to be scripted in a movie that was crossing the line from scripted to unscripted so frequently...

well, anyway.

yeah, fat people fart more and methane causes global warming and stuff.
