What is Easter Island famous for? It's statues. Where are they?
I'm sure you can do a lot better than this.

i'll be happy to chage that around, now that i look at it, it makes sense.johnners wrote:like it, looking at it from a bonus point, the Purple patch is only worth 2 bonus and each area within purple has at least two borders attached would raise to 4 and red decrease to 3 as it contains mountains, cant wait to play
i'll add the statues and make the small map smaller, but could you elaborate on how i can fix the title and why?MrBenn wrote:For starters, your small map is too big; and the title is as big as the playable area.

ok, i also think i should add more territs, but where? the map n both sizes can't acomodate for any new addititions to the island, but i'll think about what i can do.seamusk wrote:Which I think he acknowleged in his post.MrBenn wrote:For starters, your small map is too big; and the title is as big as the playable area.

I think incorporating the statues is a good idea. I don't know much about Easter Island but I'd love to learn while playing a map!
As I said before, I like more territories. But that is a personal preference. I do worry that maps on the doodle earth scale have a limited demand. What I mean that is a few will be very popular, but more than a few will see popularity flatten out. Not sure if this is correct and there is only one way to find out. But just a thought to consider as you decide on scale and gameplay details.
don't judge a book by it's cover.....RjBeals wrote:I find it hard to believe that you are skilled in photoshop, if this is what you've done for planning purposes. Either way, i think it's worth pursuing.
Use a smaller font for the title, to make it smaller.moonarus wrote:i'll add the statues and make the small map smaller, but could you elaborate on how i can fix the title and why?

okay, i'll do thatMrBenn wrote:Use a smaller font for the title, to make it smaller.moonarus wrote:i'll add the statues and make the small map smaller, but could you elaborate on how i can fix the title and why?

I'd assume the graphical quality (or lack thereof) of this draft. It's bad. Really bad. If you can do better like you say, then do it. This idea looks good, but obviously in need of a major graphical revamp.moonarus wrote:zimmah wrote:are you serious
serious about what?
this weekend i will make the changes, i have photoshop on my other computer and i will fix it.------------------------------------------------------------
i plan to make all chages this weekend, so expect the update in a few days.
both the graphics and the idea. the map is way too small, and we already have a doodle earth map, we don't need a doodle island also. wha'ts next, doodle empire? age of the doodles?ZeakCytho wrote:I'd assume the graphical quality (or lack thereof) of this draft. age of the doodles sounds awesomezimmah wrote:both the graphics and the idea. the map is way too small, and we already have a doodle earth map, we don't need a doodle island also. wha'ts next, doodle empire? age of the doodles?ZeakCytho wrote:I'd assume the graphical quality (or lack thereof) of this draft. we now have doodle (18 territories), luxembourg (19 territories), san marino (36 territories), gulf of st. laurent (34 territories), iceland (36 territories), madagascar (24 territories), switzerland (30 or so), indian subcontinent (30), mexico (30), cyprus (28 of which 8 start neutral), haiti (28)ZeakCytho wrote:I disagree with the general sentiment against small maps. Luxembourg didn't get any comments like that. I enjoy small maps and would like to see more. Easter Island is also a great setting for a nice themed map. If the graphics can be done well, I can see this idea going places.
I still disagree with you in principle. I don't think there are any two maps on this site that are "the same." They may use similar strategies, but not identical ones. And the issue of having too many small maps is separate from not having enough large maps.zimmah wrote:we now have doodle (18 territories), luxembourg (19 territories), san marino (36 territories), gulf of st. laurent (34 territories), iceland (36 territories), madagascar (24 territories), switzerland (30 or so)
and what large maps (96+ territs, since that's what you basicly need for a truly 'normal' game with 8 players) do we have besides World 2.1 and i don't think there's anything wrong with world 2.1 but:
1) 1 map for this purpose isn't a lot. since there are a lot of 8 player games nowadays and there isn't much variation on "8player supporting maps" (and no, pacman isn't really 8 player supporting either, even though it's a big map)
2) sometimes i'd like to play a big map with less 'easy bonnusses' like World 2.1 especialy given the fact that like if you hold the horn of africa, and someone else holds the bigger part of africa, gets a bigger bonus and overruns you cuz you want whole africa, and you stand no change against him. for example. i'd like to see bigger maps without this kind of issues. i love to play world 2.1 sometimes but i'd like to so more maps with a differnt style. and i think there are for the time being already more then enough small maps, and since we now have the option to play with 8 players, i think most op the maps don't support this many players yet.
if you like this map you might as well just play doodle earth, luxemburg, st. laurent, iceland, switzerland, madagascar or san marino (maybe i missed 1 or two maps but i'm not gunna name them all), they are all basicly the same. we don't need another atm.
like i said, we don't need 12 maps that have identical gameplay. what's so different about easter island gameplay then let's say cyprus? it might have different borders and differnt continents, but that's it. it's basicly the same. we don't need another 60 classic maps, at least not medium and small ones. half of the maps is already a classic small or a classic medium one, but we only have 1 or 2 larger maps that are really playable for 8 persons out of all those maps, there are just a few playable for 8 persons.ZeakCytho wrote:
As to your other concern (a lack of large maps), that's not moonarus' problem. If he wants to make a small map, then he can. If you want to see more large maps, then you should either make them yourself or ask other people to. But it's perfectly possible for both a small map and a large one to be developed at the same time. There's no reason to throw this out because you want a large map - just make a larger map in addition to this small one.
