Why is it that higher ranks get pissy when they are beat

If you are not an officer & beat a higher up, why do they get pissy?


I have played 3 6 player Gazala games with Waynemgough.

Finally win one of them & he reams me on the feedback even though not one word was said in game chat. Got a 0 on fair play & a 2 on attitude.

If you beat mystique you get put on foe list so you cant join his games anymore.

As to the question regarding foe lists. Just wait until you find others joining you in team games who actually have you on their foe list!!! Meaning, they are happy to join you but not play you!!! When I find this out I generally send them a pm returning the compliment and asking them to take time out so they can go and search for a long hard rod to put where their backbone should be.

If they get 'pissy' just relax....and stick them on your foe list.

Well, I'm not going to argue with your very, very thorough data consisting of two players (the second of which hasn't actually done to you what you're alleging he does since you're currently playing in the only game you've played against him) as being an authoritive on the mind of an officer.

I'm not telling you to shoo because you're not an officer. I'm telling you to shoo because you've started a silly thread. You want to call out some player for giving you bad ratings, join the freaking club. Or is this simply a way to post a new thread about the same damned thing? That being, pissing and moaning about the ratings.

Regardless, either way, you do need to shoo.

Yep I have been there done that. Lost 600 points in 2 weeks.

But I dont leave bad ratings or put them on my foe list just cause I got my clock cleaned.

I guess I should ask, why start public games if you arent willing to put up the points?

I agree & that is why I dont worry about starting public games.

And I should not have grouped all higher ranked players together. I have played a ton of games & most are good to play with.

Like anything else a few bad similar experiences makes you start to prejudice them all.

I agree that you have jerks who are high ranked, jerks who are cooks ... You cannot change em, so yes, I avoid them.

And anyone who thinks they "automatically" ought to win because they are a few rungs up in the rankings is just that -- a jerk. So is anyone who constantly complains about the "bad dice" and whines that they are ready to "quit CC" because of it. Know what? With all respect to Lack ... good riddance!

agreed, accept for the higher ranks, or some of them may get more pissy than others because generally they are much more competitive and hate losing, they strive to be the very best they can be i'd imagine.

kinda like sports, there are tons of great athletes and some better than others, cause the ones that are better than others usually practice much later and more, they put tons of time and effort into it, more than the average pro athlete, and same in this game or any game. some play for fun, some play for being the best, so play to relax, so play of boredom, some to socializ, some a combination of things, etc, bla bla bla

Im here to play not protect some meaningless tripe that means nothing to anyone except to folks who play this game, which is meaningless in the grand scheme anyways.

Obviously I am not the only one who finds high rankers to have a certain arrogance about them, so my point in the first place was obviously legit. I don't find a lot of sub 1000 players scream and swear when they don't win a game.

Rank or no rank, pissy people are pissy. If you look through the complaints about everything on this site, youll find the large proportion will be not higher ranks. There are certainly those high ranks that excel at pissy, but I suspect many more complain just as much without their crown or star.

The problem with xroads here, is that hes calling out a whole group because some guy complained that he lost. Thats as pissy as it gets.

This is going to come off as elitist but, so be it. While I understand that some people of high rank are there because they specialize in very specific formats that they've mastered or feast upon noobs in team games, that doesn't change the fact that high ranking players tend to be better. Hell, even the ones who take advantage of the short cuts I mentioned are at least better at the formats that they choose or it wouldn't work.

Those with high ranks are hardly flawless but I can assure you, as somebody who plays with both high ranking and low ranking players, those with the lower ranks are far more inclined to either make really bad moves or, at very least, lack the vision to make particularly good ones. Often times it's nothing hugely obvious like trying to take out a player you have no realistic chance of getting or exposing a buried large army. It's usually something much smaller but systemic, like routinely doing the dirty work of the stronger players or routinely taking spots that they can't hold rather than saving up and striking at a point when they're likely to succeed.

In general, I don't see higher ranking players do this sort of thing and I can almost count on lower ranking players committing one or more of these. So much so that I'm pleasantly surprised when they don't. This is not because of some preconceived notion, this is merely from playing. Obviously, everyone was ranked low at some point. Some, perhaps, were always as good as they are now and just needed to earn the points. However, I'm guessing that number isn't very big. I played enough risk and possess the aptitude to be good at this sort of game, but, nothing like playing a bunch of games on a bunch of maps against a bunch of players, nearly all of whom are better than the siblings that you used to beat up on back in the day to hone your skills. I know for a fact that I'm a better player now than I was when I joined CC and it's not like I was all that shabby starting out.

So, I hate to break it to you, but you're wrong. Higher ranked players are, in fact, generally better. There's no legitimate argument to the contrary. Certainly there are exceptions on both sides of the fence but they are just that, exceptions.

Now, this doesn't mean that they should be pissy when they lose. Of course, I also think that's BS as well, at least in terms of a sweeping generalization.

Ive played some pretty stupid officers and some really smart cooks strategy wise. I have considered my self one of those smart cooks, that has had bad dice and luck compared to others Ive played.

You were piled on because it's a baseless argument. Whenever you guys make this stupid claim, you always point to a few people who generally seem like a-holes anyway and use that as your evidence.

What you're failing to take into account, is the number of people who claim that high ranking players are jerks because they're completely oblivious to the fact that they completely f'ed up in game play and handed victory to someone else.

About half the time when somebody comes here complaining about some rude comments, you go into the game log and realize that anyone but Mother Theresa would have flipped out on them as well.

Sorry to say wrestler, but I can specifically recall this sort of thing with you. You make claims like this, then we look into your games and realize that you basically have yourself to blame. Then we say as much and you accuse us of flaming you in the GD. However, all we're doing is pointing out some rather inconvenient facts. Sorry dude, but that's the truth.
