i think i have had 2 occasions when i had to search for the tourny... 1 was ZZ's snowy rock races which is set up like that... the other was one of brendan man's and i remember thinking "god what a pain this is!" lol, other then that its all PM
I can't cast a vote because there are all kind of ways. For me, who plays in many many tourneys, appr. 80-85% organisers send them properly with game tags. Then there are a bit annoying organisers who send just game numbers, then there are a bit more annoying organisers who send a link to the thread where are instructions or game numbers. And then there are very annoying organises who just send "join your games, password for this game this and that game that".
For me, game tags is the only way to send [read: in 99% of times]. Exception is when I'm sending a second reminder, then I don't bother to make player's life easier. Another exception is Snowy Rock Races tournament when everybody has to join 3 random games (but I think that I have pretty good explanation how people can find their games).
And I never use Join A Game. Maybe sometimes it would help but there are better ways IMO.

NS asked for what you use Mostly, so you can cast a vote since even though you are in lots of tournaments
I'm in sure over 30 tournaments right now myself..
If I had a choice between the three. IT would always be the tags. But them you got the host (who I will not name) who don't use the tags. And that is pretty annoying. But then you have the host who don't even tell you what game number is yours, you have to figure it out. And that...well, gets me mad.
I almost always use game tags unless if I forget to put the game tag thing for sending it out.
For joining, thankfully, all tourney organizers that I've signed up for have used game tags, if not, I'd use the game finder. Never from "join a tournament" you can barely locate anything easily in a short period of time.
I always join from links or game numbers sent out by PM. Every once in awhile a organizer will just send the game number so I'll have to copy and paste it into the game finder but mosty of the time it is linked in the PM.

I need to run this by the other Directors and possibly Twill. I'm pretty sure I've seen somewhere in either the forums or chat that a link that directly joins a player in the game is not allowed. That's probably why the game tags were coded as they were. I don't think that the directly join link by itself is such a good idea. There are some players who prefer to look at the games but join them later in the day or the next day.

I understand what you are saying, but most of my players enjoy just having to click a link to join their game.

Doing it with malicious intent is not allowed, but coding passwords into game tags is not against the rules. As for using a simpler system to do it for tournament games, it is under development and Twill is deciding whether to let us use it or not.

i think it really depends what kind of tournament your hosting. My recent one named Assassin's of the world, you had to enter 30 games at once so i just directed people to game finder. But my new one , will have the game number included
