My guess is that they didn't get the response they were hoping for. Much like the rest of the world, I imagine the terrorists were picturing us as stupid, self serving, arrogant, lazy, and (I'm sure, to them) cowardly. The occupation of two countries was what they got after the first one, if they tried to pull that shit again people might actually start supporting the war, and then they'd be really fucked. Besides, they've got plenty of Americans to kill on their home turf.b.k. barunt wrote:One question i do have. The "terrorists" went to all that trouble for 9/11 - basically declaring war on The Great Satan - and then stopped. We never heard from them again in any significant way. Did i miss something? I mean, if i wanted to disrupt things here, i, by myself, on my limited funds, could wreak havoc in the supermarkets, in the water supplies, on the highways, etc. Where are any significant acts of terrorism since 9/11? I'm bored.

Yes!!! But! These people aren't interested in us. They just want their countries back. The Afghani rebels never blew up a building in Red Moscow.... they just wanted the Russians out. When Americans fought for independance we didn't go over to England and dump tea out of ships in their port. It's the same thing now.Frigidus wrote:A) People do exist who would gladly kill themselves to shed American/European/Israeli blood. Even if you think that 9/11 was A CONSPEERACEY you only have to look at the people blowing themselves up in crowded markets throughout the Middle East.
Again, precisly the point! You're on it today Frigidus. If they really wanted to hurt us they could. So far it seems that we are only hurting ourselves.Frigidus wrote:B) It isn't all that hard to sneak into the country. Mexico isn't like an open back door. It's like a missing back door. Sneaking in is easy if you have a little money.
C) It takes one guy to carry a bomb over the border, strap it to his chest, walk into Best Buy, yell "Burka durka Allah" or something, and kill a few people.
I personally don't think that America was ever a big target. They can't get anything out of our country because we do not negotiate with terrorists. Maybe a small group of terrorists really though 9-11 was a brilliant plan (Osama released a statement like 2 days after saying that it wasn't him actually in charge) But that group is all defeated now.Frigidus wrote:It's easy to do. We can't stop them from doing that. The only reason they wouldn't do it is that they no longer want to. The one good thing that came out of the Iraq war was that it convinced the terrorists that hitting America is a bad call.
Again exactly my point. We have a Department of Homeland Security that thinks this kind of stuff up all the time. But they have NEVER caught a single terrorist. On a billion dollar budget.b.k. barunt wrote:One question i do have. The "terrorists" went to all that trouble for 9/11 - basically declaring war on The Great Satan - and then stopped. I'm dying to hear.mpjh wrote:Terrorists are real. They bomb civilians every day. They use asymmetrical warfare, which means that they respond with 100 times more force than necessary and cause as much collateral damage as possible. They do not respect the territorial integrity of other countries and murder with impunity (calling it assassination). They consume 0ver 60% of the world's resources with only 25% of its population, and subvert any other government that attempts to change that situation.
Can you guess who they are?

He's right though, Frigi. The war didn't for a second convince any terrorist to stop attacking america. If anything, it made them more likely to attack. After all, America just proved that they are the evil oppressor.Frigidus wrote:And one could call you intelligent, they'd still be wrong.Frop wrote:Wow, just wow. They are plain and simple criminals who want to use politics or religion as their justification.Juan_Bottom wrote:They don't exist, you are gullible if you believe in them today. They are the new "red scare."

Just because our terrorists aren't foreign doesn't mean they don't exist... Two of my best friends parents were killed here:The Centennial Olympic Park bombing was a terrorist bombing on July 27, 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia during the 1996 Summer Olympics, the first of four committed by Eric Robert Rudolph, former explosives expert for the United States Army[1]. Two people died, and 111 were injured.
