[Foe] Put a Maximum Limit on the Foe List

i think there should be a foe limit

some players put everyone on foe that beats them and this is not fare to players who can beat them because they post the game but you can not join it

this can be used to farm

ex klobber
he foed all high ranks and i believe did get punished for that

some have the same thing going on but not as major

or this option show on profile how many foes someone has this would make it easy to say i dont want to play him or her and make it easy for mods to see who to warn

set the limit at 20

leaves room for the bad ones most players i have foed have been banned i checked today and let them off

This would require a modification to phpBB.

I don't think it is necessary, you shouldn't be required to play with anyone you don't want to.

No...20 is absolutely not enough. I foe people pretty much only for abusive language, and that certainly doesn't stop at 20 users, sadly.

You believe that not reading the game chat at all is simpler than having them on foe so I simply don't read THEIRS in particular? Seriously? I am one that greatly enjoyed the game chat, so that's QUITE SIMPLY not a reasonable suggestion.

There are different types of abuse. You speak of abuse in regard to Klobber's antics, and I certainly agree that is abuse. However, I would also argue that he's really only hurting himself.

Yet I speak of an entirely different type of abuse (abusive language), which is just as clearly abuse.

Here's the key to the whole issue for me:

With my ability to foe as many as I want: Someone else's abusive behavior is not my problem.
Without my ability to do so: Someone else's abusive behavior is now my problem.

Frankly, the foe system is seriously broken (I can accidentally join the game of someone I have foe'd?!?!?!?!). However, it at least keeps this site tolerable with my ability to largely avoid those who believe they have the right to abuse people in any way they'd like.

You should consider the fact that people don't foe others just because they are cursing. They foe them also because they are suiciders or bad players, and that can't stop at 20, not even 30.

the problem isnt the unlimited foe amount, that is necessary for all the reasons listed above.

the problem is only that some use it for the purpose of gaining points, which is fine with me, because I can still foe them...and simply dont care how they get points

yeah, well that one doesn't have a form, this one does... i think it is a horrible idea, and i believe both members starting these threads are doing so for personal reasons. however, at least jeff hardy properly filled out the form and fleshed out his idea... i personally do not believe in or use the foe list and/or mail controls. good luck with this, i don't see it happening...-0

There is no such thing as "abuse of the foe list". Any user is free to foe as few, or as many other players as they wish. Are you finding that a lot of players are adding you to their lists now that you are a multi? It's a good thing there are over 22,000 active users. I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding 1, or 2 who don't mind playing against you.

To clarify Jeff:

One shouldn't be forced to play with whom they don't want to. While a few bad apples will abuse the system, there will be 10 times the problems if stalkers were allowed to play with people they know they will anger. If you want to limit the foe list to avoid point abuse, make the limit like 200. I doubt anyone will find 200 people they really really don't want to play with, and the 'foe system abusers' will only be able to foe the top 200 players. 10 is way too short of a limit.
