same players or not it still offers equal chances to all in a mad race to the finish.
plus it offers people the chance to experiment and go crazy in each era without fear of losing their precious points. let's say poo maker really wants to try some doodle 8p speed freestyle assassin games public. will he do it now? of course not because he'd most likely drop 2-3 thousand points in a matter of days. but perhaps when a new era begins be will satisfy his curiosity and try them.

Yeah i like the idea and it would create alot more custom for CC. Just think of all those premium members who let their premiums run out and didnt reapply coz they got bored!! Also the winner of each era could get Premium membership!

EDIT: cc could contact by email all accounts and advise them that a new era would be starting and that players had a chance to win one years premium membership.
If Conquer Club wants to grow any further it really needs some good marketing which sadly it seems to be lacking!

Wow! What a great idea! I vote YES!
I wouldn't even care about a second table, althought that would be pretty nice. DiM, you're a very creative mind, much respect for that.

I still think there should be each a new score and your old and it would show both scores.

Gets a no from me sorry.

have you at least tried reading the thread before posting you don't like it?

if you have then how come you missed the part with dual scoreboards where you have an all time scoreboard and a current era scoreboard?

nobody will lose what they achieved.

go back and read the thread please.

Two scoreboards is an interesting idea but the poll question is addressing a different issue: a score reset for everybody. It does not mention two scoreboards so I guess the guy was commenting about the poll (which should be changed at this stage for this to make any sense).

yeah the poll is useless now. when i first posted it was something like 80% no after 100 votes. then the discussion started the idea was refined and almost everybody voted yes.

you couldn't have two scoreboards, it wouldn't work. but i supported this idea, it's great

yes it would work. have an all time scoreboard and a current era scoreboard. at the end of each era the overall scoreboard gets updated if you achieved a better score.

you could also have stats for every era to see what games that player had and what score, etc.

I don't understand how that could work. Pretend you're at the end of the last era you were at 3000. At the start of the next era you would be at 1000 again, how would the points you won in the 2nd era count towards your all-time score?

it's simple. era ends today. i have 2163 points (god i have lost a lot, i should pay more attention, could it be a bug? i was sure i had almost 2500), hmm. it doesn't matter.

so i have 2163 points. era ends today and tomorrow i'm back to 1000 and a fresh new start. the era lasts 6 months. i decide to specialize in classic 6player escalating and i become very good at it. at the end i have 2812 points. it gets recorded as a new personal high and shown on the overall scoreboard. we get a new reset and now i decide to play just doodle freestyle 8p speed assassin. i do that and at the end of the era i have 849 points. it gets recorded on the era scoreboard and remains in statistics but it doesn't affect the overall arena since it is much too low.

also on each player's profile you could have a history tab where you can analyse what he did in previous eras, what was his score, etc.

Ohhh, I see. My question was because i thought that the overall scoreboard was not just going to be a scoreboard with the highest records.

I really like this idea now... Though, we would really have to start from scratch again, it wouldn't be fair on people in the next couple of "era's" to try to accomplish a score in 6 months that took others 1 or more years.

actually only the last few hundred games really matter towards the score. all the rest are useless. for example i hit 2800 points at ~200 games. now i'm at over 600 games and just 2100 points. this is merely a reflection of my current "form" and in no way it means i need over 600 games to reach 2100 points.

i believe that 200 games are more than enough to show a player's ability. and in 6 months there's plenty of time to play 200 games, heck there's plenty of time to play 2000 games, it all depends on your capacity and available time.

oh and this includes freemiums too. plus the 6 months period is not set in stone it could be 9 month or 1 year, even though i prefer the 6 months.

I support this idea, and really hope it comes through. But I disagree that the "current era" could count towards the overall board-- could someone really reach 5000 points in 6 months?

yes it is possible if you are skilled and have a method.

if reaching 3000 in under 1 month is possible then surely 5000 in 6 months is.

1v1 freestyle vs noobs (johnnyrocket style). you need to win ~70 games to reach 2000 points.
then another 120 games for 3000 points. 160 to reach 4000 and finally another 220 to reach 5000.
so a total of 570 wins. with a 93% win rate this means a total of 613 games. over a period of 6 months (183 days) this means you must complete 3.34 games each day. totally possible since we're talking about 1v1 freestyle vs noobs. a large portion of these games will be over in 3 days because of deadbeating and almost all will end before round 8.

This seems like a good idea. Although the real argument will be two things:
1. How often the points are reset
2. What the new score system will be for these points (ranks mostly)
3. If players can keep an "overall" score and they get a season score each time the scores are reset.

DiM, you need to mention this "two scoreboard" thing in the first post because the thread is getting pretty long and people might decide it's not worth reading 9 pages to find out whether they should say "yes or no" in a poll.

The only point you bring up that I don't think is valid is "getting rid of point inflation". I remember you and I becoming embroiled in a discussion about it that I don't want to bring into this thread, so if you want to talk about it you can either PM me or bump the thread again.

That being said, I like this idea, especially the bit about letting the current scoreboard toppers engage in some wacky gametypes they would never have tried before.

From the discussion so far I can not see this happening in any manor other than a two score board system. I think two score board system will break down just the same as the current system is proposed to have. The board of interest will be the all time board (where someone will be 10000 points ahead of new members), because once your era is over all that work is discounted (minus whatever movement you made in the all time scoreboard.)
If point inflation is the real fear, have we thought about decaying points by how many games back those points were earned?

However I would not leave just because eras were imposed. -- perhaps 1 yr eras marking the anniversary site would interesting entrenching more annul events, but wiping the old scores is a tough sell. We might need a trophy room on our profile page.

I really like this idea, especially because of the plataeu factor. But a big problem would be that premium members would have an advantage over freemiums. Because they can play many more games than freemiums, they would be able to reach higher ranks much faster.
