Indeed. Anyone agitating for a completely unmoderated forum should go spend some time cruising /b... once you get through the months of inevitable psychotherapy such a sojourn would require, you'll all but build golden idols extolling the praises of forum moderation.

This administration of this site/forum started to become obviously preachy when they got rid of flamewars. It has continued on with the absurd fuss made about 'language' in games or on the forum. The administration has now taken it up a notch by banning DM/Fred.

Am I fed up about paying for a site which feels the need to thrust its political views (standards of decency) on others?

I am a bit.

What can we do about it? I would suggest that in the end we just have to keep on hammering home the point that WE the paying members of this site disagree with the way the site is being run, disagree with whom they chose to make admins and will not just sit back and put up with it. However I would counsel that the way to do it IS TO STAY WITHIN THE RULES AS THEY CURRENTLY ARE. We may want some changes, but don't give them the opportunity to spin the line 'We have these rules because of just this kind of disruptive behavior'.

Remember that the administration of this site will assume that we'll all get bored of this in a couple of days and move back on to discussing Top 5 quickest games or what we think about Michael Jackson. They assume it will all blow over as it always does. In this case I am not sure that it will. GD and Off-topics regulars seem to be uniting on this issue as never before and if the threads keep coming, and the posts keep being made today, tomorrow and on then we may see some shift in policy.

A lot of points made...obviously, good one's and not all of us will agree to it. To play 'devil's advocate' for one moment, if one of us were adamant about something where it would involve a mod/admin just to really put things into perspective, and we knew there was a strong case....then what? Would we have to fill an e-ticket? We can't even contact lack directly. And who's to say that there isn't a fraternity within the admins/mods? It's just like being in a tight clan - they're going to stick up for one another. So, my point is; if one of you were put into THAT situation, and your dispute and voice of concern fell upon deaf ears, and it gradually got you a perma-ban in the forums, would you not somewhat feel cheated? Where else would you try to make a pitch to make it know that you felt wronged by a representative, which in my opinion should present a neutral and unbiased face of CC. There HAS to be some sort of accountability , because if there is a complaint against any one of them - how do we know it won't be recycled amongst themselves? Think of it as this....yes, we understand there are rules and conditions even as paid members, but we are like any other company - we are investors and have the right to know the chain of command, and how it works when the so-called chain of command from top to bottom fails.

I love being part of a community that celebrates the diversity of its membership by encouraging basic standards of decorum! If being part of this community got me "fed up" I suppose I could make the choice to separate from it. Perhaps that's a choice some of those who have such pointed issues with the mods should examine?

Thanks for the passionate discussion, gang! Think it's time to move on now to a more constructive topic, though:

If Michael Jackson played in CC what map do you think would be his fav?

Looking for some interesting perspectives and input on this one gang. Let's just have fun with this topic! But let's keep the silliness under a little control and try to keep it clean, okay?

Most of the posts that call this bad judgement call for what it is reflect my personal view.

D.M. had a knack for rubbing Mods/Admins up the wrong way, while this is certainly irritating it was not to the greater detriment of the community. The only real casualty was the offended ego of the Mod/Admin behind the decision to permaban D.M.

The sort of things I'd expect someone to get permabanned from the forums are:
  • Persistent biggotry.
  • Persistent posting of pornography.
  • Persistent spamming and derailing of topics.
  • Persistent unauthorised advertisement of a competitors site on CC
  • Persistent stalking of other players with intent to make their gaming experience unpleasant.

Persistently arguing the toss with the Mods/Admins(while it may be personally irritating for the Mods/Admins in question) does not in my opinion merit a permanent ban. If he's not making a valid point then by all means punish him with a vacation, but don't use the permanent ban just because you tire of having your decisions challenged and want to silence him for keeps. A permanent ban should be reserved for those truly virulent nasty pests that do nothing but disrupt the enjoyment of others and try to create as much chaos as possible.

There are plenty of players who personally irritate me a great deal, I've stuck them on my foe list, that does not mean I wish them to be permanently barred from the forum, nor should it be a reason to permaban someone. It takes no small amount of moral fortitude to admit to making a mistake, I hope the Mods/Admins in question consider those words carefully.

I think you get longer if you dont limit yourself to the DM question. There are plenty more cases on strange things going on.

I know I am for now not a paying player, but have been for a long while, but I think even a non-paying player could be bothered an answer if he/she pm's the mods with some questions.

I havent bothered myself with the mod-issues for 3½ years on this site but they have worn me out now.

But what I wanted to say was... Dont limit the topic to the DM-case....

Get it in your heads.

To quote:

Your only say in any matter regarding "customer service" is in voting with your wallets.

And to be realistic, you C.C. Junkies are never going to leave, and are never going to limit yourselves to 4 games at a time so why waste your obvious large amount of free time?

This is a PRIVATE site. Your participation is voluntary. YOU agree to obey the terms and put up with the moderated enviroment EVERY time you log on.

Can you truly.....TRULY....think of any motivating factor that would sway the powers that be to change anything? The site is growing, so there is no fear of lost revenue. That's the only card you have and it's effectively neutered.

Go to P.O.A Have all the unsupervised threads and discussion groups you want.
Many banned members do don't they?

Do you truly thing that any petition is going to force any changes? Do you think you can gather enough sheeple to participate? What a massive waste of time.

Now if you can organize a mass movement on not renewing premium memberships?
THEN you have a potent voice.

But you can't. Your flock do not have the will or the staying power to wait it out a year to have the impact required. Your cause is weak at best.

I love D.M as much as anyone, but if you step on your dick enough times expect to see tred marks.

I know like anyone here I am most certainly fed up. In fact I am quite likely 1/3 heavier than I should be. Well I've gotta go get something to drink now to wash it all down. Later.

I find myself being driven into apathy. I used to care about the forums, and community aspect of CC. Now I'm finding myself increasingly disinterested. The way I see things, the admins/mods are cracking down on aspects of the site that made it interesting and enjoyable, and I don't care. If they don't want me to enjoy these forums, I will gladly find another place to spend my time.
