It matters little Mr C. Being the Aristos we are gives us carte blanche to take opposite views even in the same sentence and be correct on both counts.

I feel that lower players are discriminated, because higher players think they are the shit for their rank. And mostly its the type of games you the team you have the work you put in for that score. In team games luck is very low for winning that game, strategy overrides more in a team game. But I agree with the OP post that Higher ranks can say any shit they want and have more support from other players that are high in the ranks as well. I respect some High Ranks that have a great Winning Percentage, but when a high rank with 6000 games and 30 percent win ratio talks shit to me, has no right to do so. Anyway I agree with OP that high ranks think they are better than others because of rank. If I played this online game up to the point I had 6000 games, maybe I can say bad things to other players as well.

CC is 50% luck, 50% skill, and 50% $25.

You can't discriminate against someone because they lack luck.
(but if they lack the skill, by all means, discriminate)

I have found that poor players like to emphasise the luck factor and downplay the amount of skill required ,wonder why

Are you saying I'm poor?

Indeed, in points one could consider you poor. Whether this is a social cc statement you are trying to make or you are just inept, incompetent and untalented at the game I could not tell...especially as you don't figure on my radar.

Just you wait.

And if this hypothetical player plays nothing smaller than 6 player standard games, have they still no rights?

Wait, let me rephrase that. Learn basic math please.

It's possible to take this "high rank doesn't mean skill" thing too far. There are quite a lot of people with ranks that are "low" (lower officer, maybe not even officers), but are known top players. But I think it's safe to say that as a general rule, high rank means high skill. You just have to be very careful about judging and underestimating players, because if you actually check that sergeant has 7k games.

I'm rather embarrassed to admit that this is a gross stereotype. Let's not make this myth of a subject any more hackneyed than it already is in these forums K-yizzle. Allow me to share with you a short story to help you better understand why this is not so. Now realize that this is just an account of incidents so please don't turn it in to a widely circulated rumor my child.

One day, in a distant land there was a young boy named Prince_Herpes. He was heir to the thrown and a large endowment once that time came. Meanwhile his grandmother was assigned the duty of his loyal caretaker and confidant. Unfortunately for him, she was a succubus whore.

This wretched old bat fiddled and fondled him in every way conceivable. Touched him so much with whispered words of debauchery did she that he soon became a raging debaser. Forever tainting all things relative with perverse innuendos. Keep in mind that this same boy grew stronger with every passing day and soon was the aggressor in these incestuous acts of ardent passion. The hag asked for it in my Id's opinion. So I gave it to her. Oh, I mean he...

Anywho, Once the Prince became that of a King who was blessed with being on top of the scoreboard for nearly half a year he gained no greater respect or level of privilege. In fact he was heckled by the masses and moderators from far corners kept a piercing eye on everything he did. Severely judged and greatly misunderstood, the El Capitan of your beloved game is treated with the same courtesy or lack there of as any of its players.

Apart from the occasional bias within the forums and fear struck strategy in games against higher ranks this is a bunch of hoopla! I'm indifferent on the matter either way but just remember this story whenever you feel like you're being branded.

Re: high ranking players are treated better than average players

Postby Master Fenrir on Mon Jul 27, 2009 4:14 pm

I haven't noticed a difference in mod treatment, though I don't interact with them a whole lot. With players, definately. A buddy of mine plays. He's a good player, but is a private after losing 600+ points trying to claim a single victory in Assdoodle. He has yet to win one. He gets reamed and foed by other players on a pretty regular basis.

I don't talk smack, but apparently it's not cool to give advice or suggestions, either. One of the few times I do, I get hit with some huge blow-back. In a 6-man esc game, this happened:

Master Fenrir: [Corporal 1st Class], why are you hitting 3-stacks in an escalating game?
[Corporal 1st Class]: Because there were no 1's beside me and, as you point out on my wall, cards are important. I also don't see where you think that I'm trying for a bonus... if I were, I'd own [that bonus] right now.
[Corporal 1st Class]: Maybe if you had left a 1 beside me for me to hit, then I wouldn't have taken one of your 3 stacks for a card.
[Corporal 1st Class]: Now how about you stop trying to tell me how to play the game, since chances are good I've been playing it for at least twice as long as you have, if not several times.
Master Fenrir: If you didn't have a 1, then I understand. I apologize. However, you advanced 1 just now instead of 0. And you joined 2 weeks ago...twice as long?
[Corporal 1st Class]: So what if I want my territories to be less attractive for taking cards than others?
[Corporal 1st Class]: And if you're really asking that last question based on how long ago I joined this site, then it's clear to me that I've been playing this game for dozens times longer than you.
[Corporal 1st Class]: In case you haven't heard of it, the site is based on a game called Risk. It's been around for a few decades or so.
[Corporal 1st Class]: And is a game that I've played since I was a kid, more than 15 years ago.
[Corporal 1st Class]: The site isn't that much different from the board game... especially on a map like this.
[Corporal 1st Class]: And it's very easy to adapt strategies from the board game to the site, especially when I've been playing dozens of other strategy games throughout my life.
[Corporal 1st Class]: Not to mention this game on other sites as well.
[Corporal 1st Class]: So yeah, I think I can handle myself well enough, thanks.
[Corporal 1st Class]: I love how everyone around here automatically assumes you've never heard of Risk or played it before in your life before you log onto the site.
[Corporal 1st Class]: And especially love how a bunch of the higher ranked players of the site are so arrogant in thinking that they're better than everyone else at the game
[Corporal 1st Class]: If I keep gaining points like I have been, then I'll be passing you in score right around the same time I hit lieutenant... around 40 completed games; not 171.
[Corporal 1st Class]: ...... and I love how you bitch about me advancing a 1 to have a 2 stack when the two spots you have sitting right next to me are a 4 and a 7 LOL [I forted forward buried armies]
Corporal 1st Class: My apologies that I'm not making it easy for you to win the game ;)

The moral of the story: Ask a lower-ranked player why they're doing something you consider a tad foolish, and essentially get called a 12-year-old, arrogant, know-it-all bitch.

I don't plan on doing it again. Who knows what inferiority complex lurks just behind the door...

Dude I play assassin on my free time, I have a team that I play with in triples. So I know strategy and plus not that this matters, I have been on this site since pretty much around when this site opened up. You assumed to much by looking at my game logs. I have been playing with the same triples team for a while we play around 4 to 5 games at a time I allowed to play other games, and I enjoy the rush of Doodle earth assassin oh and also I don't care about points im here for fun not to be on some virtual number one board.

Maybe I should have gone into more detail, there was no need for the rude remark that you posted. Anyway what I meant was that people who play 6000 games or so and win only 30 percent, should not tell a person with a 50 win ratio who plays in team games knows strategy and knows the map how to play.

You seem to know how to play since your ratio is around 48 percent, a decent person who knows risk would have a good ratio. But if you just play all standards and have a win ratio below 30 percent and are a high rank. I that person should not be rude or arrogant to a person who knows strategy due to their knowledge on all game types.

Overall I feel that the high ranks sometimes go to peoples heads, I never ever give anyone advice unless they truly need it. Advice should only be given if asked or if the person is just not understanding the way the game flows. An analogy of high ranks can be applied to politics. People who are high level should just tone down on the rude remarks in games, and only give advice when asked. If a nub is fking up your chance of winning so be it is a game don't get pissed if you wanna tell them how to play ask them if they want to learn otherwise let it be.

Case A to this OP, King Herpes thinks he is the shit because he is number one. Yeah he has skill, but he also has over 4500 games over him for experience. Maybe if I can get this many games under belt I can be the shit also? Anyway I am done hopefully arguing this topic.
