I would never play this on a grey background, it would feel like homework or something.

I can do a poll when the current poll is over.
But I have tried a lot of different backgrounds and the only thing that works is a grey one.

what about the same color as the background around maps when you are playing them, then it wont be a block of gray on the white with a slight hint of puke green

Are you sure there are only 36 quadrants?

Yes, on The CUBE. 4 quadrants per "flake" * 3 * 3 dimensions = 36

that's the way, nice one on the background compromise.
Best of both worlds. Keeps its setting, gives it a theme, and you can still figure it out.

(p.s. - i think i missed the explanation on the "yellow ball" which gives the extra +1 - the E,F,G,H yellow is the closest to my mind at the moment. Could you save us the trouble of searching back through the thread and explain - also if i'm not comlpetley witless and it actually isn't that obvious, maybe you should make it a little clearer on the map)

may i suggest that rather than having teh bonuses set as squares could you make then all cubes like hte center yellow one? I think this would make the bonuses easier to identify and more realisitict to hold, but then again it would turn this map more symetrical.

I genereally feel that this concept still needs to be a little more tidy.
What do you know about map making, bitch?

Thank you thank you!! Finally someone that doesn't just whine. ;)
The yellow balls, uh-oh... Seem to have missed coloring the middle balls in this latest version. I will fix it pronto! :D

hmmm, think paulk's last one was better, more intrigue in the background selection. (But in any case, stick to the stars theme)

I like the star theme as well, but you need to replace the black bars with some other color...

I really like the idea, and I'm intrigued to see how it will play. I think the 'Cube' map would be great for heads-up/4 player scraps...

I kind of liked the grey-ish map, but the black balls/rods have to change color to burgundy or pink or something. ( I never figured out what color is what, exept the basic ones. ;) )

Can you post the background only?

Great concept.

To achieve http://steve.hollasch.net/thesis/images/fig45a.gif you would just need to bend/curve it.

I'm not. Which map are you actually working on? If it is the one on this page that's good, but we'd like to limit things to one map per topic with easy to follow info in the title.

Yeah, I have been thinking about splitting it up in three threads, one for each cube.
