... and getting carded is a problem because???

If you look under 25yo you should be carded for cigarettes too.

I actually buy them for my grandparents, and yes I look quite a bit under 25.

That was my point, I am not disagreeing that I should be carded; I'm saying Hastings and Game Stop are more on the ball than major drugstores.

Thus Mitt Romney is arguing about issues that have clearly already been solved, meaning either he did not do the slightest bit of research into what the actual "problems" are, or he is spewing lies about what the "problems" are simply to get the panicked elderly American vote.

He's referring to the fact that Octomom is an aviation enthusiast.

Excuse the typos, I'm posting this message from my iDroid.

Just a few minutes ago I was looking at the online preview of a new exhibit on 17th century Japanese erotic woodcuts that will be showing at the Getty Center when my internet went down. I heard a great commotion outside so raced to the window just in time to see Mitt Romney digging around the telephone lines that run by my house.

I flung open the window and yelled out in a loud, firm, crisp voice, "HELLO! JUST WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU DOING THERE?"

He was clearly startled and seemed suddenly frozen before a crestfallen aura set about him.

"GET ON THEN, GO AWAY BEFORE I CALL THE SHERIFF," I continued.

Romney scampered off and jumped into a rainbow colored conversion van parked on the street corner, which sped out, nearly running over my Rex, Old Tom II, in the process.

I'm now left with no internet and I have not a moment of hesitation in who is owed blame. Plus, Old Tom II is now in an irritable state and won't lay quiet in his cat bed.

Has this happened to anyone else?

You are right,,, 3yo's aren't interested in porn. They won't (I believe) go looking for it.

At the same time it shouldn't pop up on them. You can tool around on Youtube... and start with something innocent like "Disney Princess"... if you just follow clicks, next thing you know you're looking at "Porn Princess".

.. oh and um... 3-5yo's do know how to use computers. Mine did and do.

And how exactly do you propose this would be enforced? Who is going to go through the code of all 367 million websites and see which ones are following the rule? And what will be done to the websites that don't comply?

Furthermore, how would you going to get every country in the world to agree to enforce this rule? Do you even realize the internet exists globally?

And not least of all: who would pay for all of this? Taxpayers?

If you're so worried that your kids might accidentally see a nipple or two, you can just keep them away from the computer, or don't let them use it unsupervised. But don't expect everyone else in the world to pay for your kids.

It could start with voluntary set of standards.

I do watch my kids... and do limit their access to the interenet and computer. My simple observation is that porn is so pervasive on the internet that it comes AT YOU. This seems to me to be excessive. I have no problem with you (or me) as adults deciding we ant to look at poen... and then typing into a Google Search "Naked f*ck Sluts"... and then having easy access to whatever we want.

I object to...
-> Porn poping up in random places... like my previously example on Youtube... you get lots of innappropriate stuff within a few clicks of kid stuff.
-> Kids being able to search for "Naked f*ck Sluts"... and parents having no easy way to lock that out of their PC.

Who would pay??? How about the people that make money selling porn online???
Simple regulation.

Get a life.

Is there actually a single browser these days that doesn't block pop-ups? And no, IE doesn't count - I'm talking about real browsers...

Define porn.

There is plenty of content on Youtube that you don't want your 5yo to see... that she can easily find starting at at Disney Princess video.

You are intentionally ignoring the pertinent facts.

Not all pornographic or inappropriate stuff is present as "pop-ups".

I did not use the term "pop up" in a technical manner to define a specific type of way materials "pop-up" in new windows. I used it in a non technical manner to describe (from a layman's point of view) stuff appearing on your screen.

Again you intentionally avoid the point and try to get technical.

So what? You don't let a 5 year old on the internet without supervision. If you do, you're a crappy parent.

jimboston wrote:It could start with voluntary set of standards.

Oh? Well, if the people wanted such a set of "voluntary standards", why aren't they implemented already?

And you keep avoiding the issue that there's practically no way this could be enforced - why do you think there's so much malicious sites that attempt to flood you with malware? Why do you think spam exists? If it were that easy to regulate the internet, those things wouldn't exist. Luckily, internet isn't that easy to regulate. This is a good thing, all things considered.

jimboston wrote:I do watch my kids... and do limit their access to the interenet and computer. My simple observation is that porn is so pervasive on the internet that it comes AT YOU.

Omg, the porn monster comes AT YOU! We'll all be eaten by the porn monster!

It'd be interesting to know where exactly is this porn coming "at you" without you wanting it to. I browse the web every day and I never see porn except when I want to.

jimboston wrote:I object to...

And small kids have to use youtube because...?

And I still don't know of any porn on youtube.

jimboston wrote:-> Kids being able to search for "Naked f*ck Sluts"... and parents having no easy way to lock that out of their PC.

Wow, you got me there. Maybe you should, I don't know, supervise your kids when they use the internet if you're worried about them finding stuff you object to? Furthermore, if a kid is old enough to want to search for "naked fucksluts" then why shouldn't the kid search for naked fucksluts? What exactly is the problem there?

Anyway, I think it's great Octomom has found herself honest work and is able to support her family. Good for her.
I assume you agree, since you're always ranting against government handouts?

Of course. I was just remarking upon how absolutely shocked I was that the Octomom turned to a job in porn. Especially since she specifically stated just last year that she would never do porn, because "it would be setting a bad example for her children"

=D>

I wonder if being on welfare and collecting on 14 kids lowered her previously sky-high morals and concern for her children.

With some caveats, yes. Internet shouldn't be regulated by any single entity, it's a collective framework for communication between people, and the people should be the ones to decide. Internet is the best thing that's ever happened to free speech, and there are lots of people who want to attempt to strangle that freedom for their own benefit - mainly, the people who have lots of money/power and whose positions are threatened by the free speech which internet facilitates.

I'm not sure why you seem to be surprised by this - it's not anything new, I've always been a supporter of Electronic Freedom.
