You described it exactly.
Got a spy program and it seems to be fixed now. I did have to buy one, but the AVG freeware just was not doing it, and this way I get tech support (which, I obviously need...).
I had quite a few problems, actually. This computer is not new and that is probably why the AVG did not catch it, probably had them here before installation.
So, thanks.

Did your computer tell you to buy it? If that's the case, lots of spyware will install on your computer, tell you that you are infected, and for some money they will give you the full version of the app and remove the spyware for you. What you don't realize, it's it's a scam, they just want your credit card info.
You shouldn't have had to buy anything. What did you buy?
Install MVP hosts file to prevent spyware from calling home.
Run ccleaner to delete temp files.
Install the newest version of AVG free.
Install all windows updates.
Install malwarebytes, update it.
Perform a full scan with malwarebytes.
During that scan, AVG will scan in the background also.
Then you install spybot, update it, and scan with it.
Then you install adaware, update it, and scan with it.
Hopefully your system will be clean then.
Then every patch Tuesday (2nd tuesday of every month) you install windows updates.

Of course not, because you agree with dave's politics.

I don't think that dave's politics has anything to do with whether he should be banned, and if anything t's you who hates dave because of his politics and therefore want him gone.

Thanks, seems to have worked.

Lesson learned. I will avoid ever joking about computers with you again.
If you had actually killed your OS, I would have gladly helped you get it up and running again or pay for a technician site visit. Again, my sincerest apologies. Considering everyone else was joking around, I'm still really surprised you took it seriously.

If I asked someone how to fix my leg, admitting I knew nothing about legs, bridges or gravity, and someone told me to jump off the bridge and that would fix my leg... yeah, probably.

I did edit my previous comment immediately, but I don't share other people's emails without permission. Since I have it now, here it is:pimpdave wrote:And since people want to flip out in public and keep quoting the joke, did Player share the apology I sent her with everyone?

If that's the case, how do you manage to ever walk? How does one manage to turn on the computer or use the internet?
WINDOWS HAS A HUGE WARNING THAT TELLS YOU NOT TO DELETE ANYTHING IN YOUR SYSTEM FILES AND ASKS YOU REPEATEDLY IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE

I am dating myself, but I JUST missed having computers, too.

No harm done, nothing happened, and it wasn't done with malicious intent - sure, one should probably use some judgement when making jokes like this, on whether the receiving person is capable of identifying it as a joke... but since no harm was done, I don't see it being ban-worthy.
