I don't know dude, you and Scotty are the conspiracy theorists on this one. Keep throwing mud, maybe some of it will stick. Even Limbaugh is to the left of you two now- he apologised. Probably he was forced to by shadowy figures in a parking garage. It's up to you guys now.

The truth is way out there.

I never called her a slut, so why do I have to apologize? I just simply called out that her position is absurd and that if she wants to have protection from the consequences of sex, then it's her responsibility to pay for it herself. It's not the role of the government or employer to pay for her sex.

You merely argued that she was extremely promiscuous and wanted to be paid to have sex, all the while defending Limbaugh's comments that she was a slut and a prostitute.

Yeah, dude, you're clean...

Do you realize that many women who use the pill don't use it for contraception but rather to help with many aspects of their menstrual cycle?

Do you realize that this is already covered under insurance and that this new mandate is in no way related to it?

You'd hope that he understood the nuances of contraceptive care, but he doesn't. He's assuming that the payments go on condoms.

[quote-"Night Strike"]And I think he was calling her a slut based on the number of condoms she claimed to have used during her time at Georgetown (which came to 3 per day on average). And mandating contraceptive coverage free of any charge IS paying for people to have sex.[/quote]

By the way, this is not what she claimed, this is just NS Kool Aid talk. She talked about contraceptive care as a whole and its cost, this was then divided into how much a condom costs by right wingers, as if all contraceptive care went on buying rubbers, and thus every purchase resulted in sex. Idiocy, I know, but that's where we are. These are the arguments.

Will you learn to actually read the whole thread before trying to claim what Kool-Aid I drink??

Night Strike wrote:Just reread a couple things. Apparently the articles about her testimony was citing the price of condoms in analyzing her numbers. That's probably not a valid comparison (unless she also wants the government to mandate providing condoms). However, there are far cheaper birth control methods that wouldn't cost $1000 per year.

Hrmm, why does american policy seem so backwards... Anyhoo, gotta work with the system you have...

Um can someone explain to me how insurance policies have anything to do with birthcontrol? I may have missed something but can you make an insurance claim to get condoms under most (non-religious) policies? And why does a university supply insurance in the first place?

I feel like I want to voice an opinion on the matter but the US system seems so damn weird...

Why doesn't Tea Party Misogynist Rush Limbaugh have a problem with Viagra? Doesn't that allow people to "do things in the sexual realm that aren't how things are supposed to be"?

not only is Sandra Fluke not a 23 yr old ā€˜coed’ – she’s a 30 yr old women’s rights activist who has a B. S. degree in Policy Analysis & Management, as well as Feminist, Gender, & Sexuality Studies from Cornell University (2003) and has served as the President of Law Students for Reproductive Justice, and Vice President of the Women’s Legal Alliance.

Furthermore, it’s reported that she made her decision to attend Georgetown only after reviewing the school’s insurance policy and seeing that it didn’t cover contraceptive services. She chose to attend Georgetown with the express purpose of battling this policy.

So it fully appears that Fluke was no fluke at all, but actually a Far Left plant designed to further the distraction that this is a women’s health issue and that Republicans simply want to deny women access to contraceptives. Free contraceptives.

The ā€˜War on Womenā€˜ is how the Democrats are billing it in their latest fund raising efforts. An argument that begins with the assumptive that birth control is an inherent right, which it is not. Since launching its ā€˜War on Womenā€˜ campaign last week, the DCCC has raised $1.1 million.

But this is not about birth control, it’s about the federal government’s power to force a religious institution such as Georgetown University to bend to its will and take actions that are fundamentally at odds with its core values. It’s about a direct attack on religious freedom.

It’s also about the outright deception and dishonesty employed by the President of the United States and the Progressive Left in their never ending quest to ā€˜fundamentally transformā€˜ America. To these Alinsky disciples, the ends truly does justify the means.

Naturally, Obama is willing to play his role in pulling this ruse off. After radio personality Rush Limbaugh weighed in on Fluke’s testimony, in his usual controversial manner, Obama found time in his busy day to reach out to this most fortunate ā€œcitizenā€ Sandra Fluke.

In a telephone call, Obama ā€œwanted to express his disappointment that she has been the subject of inappropriate personal attacks, and thank her for exercising her rights as a citizen to speak out on an issue of public policy.ā€ >wink*wink<

http://www.floridapoliticalpress.com/20 ... ntroversy/

This is not a direct attack on Religious Freedom. It is calling attention to health programs and providers of health services who use religion as an excuse to deny women access to birth control. This is not requesting the church hand out contraceptives or members of a church use them. It's asking them to provide the same women's health services already available at similar institutions and universities across the country.

A never ending quest to fundamentally transform America by the Progressive Left?
By progressive are you referring to people who no longer believe the world is flat and are making an effort to improve contemporary life by dealing with issues that effect women? Do you define the left as people who don't conform to or blindly accept policies that existed before they were born? Maybe Sandra Fluke should have been dunked in the Potomac River prior to testifying before a Congressional Committee to see if she floats.

This issue was thought to be resolved two decades ago, yet in some corners of the nation it lingers. Barak Obama did not create this situation, but speaks out because he is the President and current events have made this an issue that affects Americans.

I wonder what that means in light of the comments in this thread.

I agree thegreekdog, clearly Rush Limbaugh reads the ConquerClub Off-Topics forum and has had an opposite reaction to what most conservatives on here typically have, he has not doubled down and dug in his heels.

So, there's more misogyny expressed by conservatives here than by Rush?

Shockingly (SHOCKINGLY!) Rush Limbaugh does what he does for the money. I'm shocked. SHOCKED!

I said this in another thread - When people realize that most, if not all, political pundits (or demagogues) are in it for the money, their political lives become much simpler (and more intelligent).
