inflation baby inflation.

pretty soon you'll have to drop the captains from this stat cause captain will become something really easy to attain (in a way it already is)

captains

lol.....Dim

Tell that too the est 21,000 people who have not made it to 2000+ points.

I am sure you have the time to work out the exact percentages but, I think that if only 440 people out of est 21,000 have got 2000+ points it cant be that easy.

actually it is easy, people just don't know it yet.

i made captain ~5 months ago after spending around 6 months in the 1200 points area. i used to think damn that's hard. will i ever get to colonel (old rank starting at 2000)? i don't think i will and stuff like that.

then i simply put my mind to it and in 3 weeks i got 1000 points rising to 2200. and 3 weeks is a long time. it can be done much much faster if you play many games at once. but since i used to play just 8-10 games almost all with no cards it took 3 weeks.

again getting to 2000 is easy. take a map you like and start playing 6-8p singles on it with the settings you like the most. always pick people of same rank or higher and i guarantee you'll get there if you really want to.

maintaining rank or even improving it is a whole different matter. when i got to 2000+ and entered the cc2000 games i started thinking that's my plateau. i was winning enough to maintain around 2200 but nothing more. then i simply put my mind to it and broke 2500. since then i never went back to captain and i'm continuously improving my highscore. not a spectacular rise since i don't play many games but still it shows it can be done.
and if i'd be more selective when it comes to gametypes maps and opponents i'm sure i could rise even further on the scoreboard.

3 plus days since this topic has been posted in. I don't know if any of these are records, but here are the stats as of now for some select ranks.

19 Colonel and above
90 Major and above
449 Captain and above

I only bothered to do this because I just made Major for the first time a little bit ago.

It's a nightmare

Postby Prankcall on Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:03 pm

To make 3 k I'd say is relatively easy...To climb above the 3.5k and stay above it is relatively hard..Since I've attained Colonel I haven't lost it (Not Once) however i havent been able to stay above 3.5k on a consistent basis..To reach for 4200 seems almost impossible but with time and the right streak it's possible...It's just so damn funny when u play an 8 player game and stand to win 60-75 points if u win and thats if there is a few good ranks in...Yet if u lose its on average 40..That doesn't make for a recipe of success..

If you lose to me you won't lose as much... :D SO, you should just plan on losing your points to me rather than other people

Yo-Yo

Postby Prankcall on Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:51 pm

I confess I like the yo-yo effect..It does however get a bit dizzying after awhile..Bah I'm trying to learn a few tricks like Walk the dog and Around the world ..I do believe however i seem to be not very good at it..Maybe I'll give it up and stick to things I'm good at like..Well come to think of it that is to much work THINKING of things I'm good at...

Folks to put things in perspective as you discuss ranks its worth remembering (as its easy to forget if you look at forums only 15.9% of active players have a rank of sgt or higher (1400) to most players despite an opinion to the contrary around here sgt = high ranked and unattainable to most. The average score of all cc's inactives is 984 aprox. whereas the average of active members (on the scoreboard is 1116 aprox. so it would be a reasonable assumption to assume the 15.9% figure above dips if the inactives is factored in to about 14% (.88 of its active level)

the above figures can be verified by anyone that looks at our rank / score distribution (as I have done  )
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

actually rebel is right.
in this moment there are 3435 players with 1400 points or higher and we have 21466 active players.

that means exactly 16% of the active players are ranked above 1400. which judging only by those percentages means anybody above 1400 is among the best players on the site. let's say good players.

the best 10% are 1543 points or higher.

and the best 5% start from 1752 points.

captains and above are only 2.07%
majors and above are only 0.43%
colonels and above are only 0.09%

the common agreement is that top players are captain/majors and above which judging solely by percentages is very very wrong since as we can see there are only 2.07% captains or above and only 0.43% majors and above.

the main problem comes from the way scores are distributed in CC with very big and very few scores on top and a lot of median scores.

to be honest the scoreboard is crap and in no way does it show who's the best player. it merely shows who's the best point grabber. i have played all kinds of ranks and to be honest i've faced sergeants or lieutenants that played consistently well on all sorts of settings and maps without any care about points whereas i've seen majors and above that simply were great at a certain thing and sucked on another. they found a way to get points and are sticking with it. skyt - freestyle triples vs noobs, jr 1v1 vs noobs. they play great at that certain thing and thus amass vast amounts of points but would they be the same if they played anything vs anybody? i doubt it.
or look at me. in theory i'm among the best 0.43%. that means that for every guy like me there are ~199 other crappy guys. i doubt that. i really do. i play singles and i'm fairly good at it but what about team games? well i simply suck there. or freestyle, i suck there too.

there are plenty of people out there that are better than me in certain gametypes but happen to have a lower score because they play anything vs anybody.

btw my highscore puts me in the top 0.14% players on cc. that's absurd since lots and lots of players have whooped my ass big time, and among those players are all kinds of ranks including cooks.
