Preset troop deployment?

Postby Elijah S on Sat Jan 05, 2008 11:21 pm

All CC maps involve "continent" bonuses, and the initial placement of armies is random, but what I'm wondering is:

How difficult would it be to have armies deployed (dropped at the start of the game) in a manner that a single player occupies an entire region?
I guess I'm asking if the xml to do this would be insanely hard to write or wouldn't work at all?

I have some ideas for future maps but am beginning to think that maybe the concept of having to acquire "continents" for added bonuses kindof causes a loss for the feel of the map's theme.

Without continent grouping there could be games which would start out as, for example, one player already owning the Axis countries, and another already owning the Allies...

Without gaining continents being a major objective, the gameplay could more closely resemble historical battle or war.

This would be best on maps that represent a historic encounter.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Wonderfull that another person needs this!

I am desperatly in need of this for my Medieval Europe map and i've already posted it in the xml ideas thread (look at kingdoms idea) but with another persons support with it being needed for more than one map its much more likely to happen.
