[PC] Turns Missed Counter On The Profile Page

Postby lozzini on Sun Jan 13, 2008 10:42 am

The idea is a turns missed total on the profile page, or a average turns missed per game, so you do not join a game with a serial deadbeat

Could work, but some people miss for very good reasons -- religious issues or work that takes them out. Maybe some tolerance is in order as well?

By far and away the largest proportion of serial deadbeats are freemium newbies who join up for 4 games and never visit the site again. Their profile would be exemplary initially. I fail to see how this would work for them. If it is an established player you can normally tell from the feedback if they are deadbeats or not. I don't think this needs to be implemented.

First off, use the form at the top of the page.

Secondly, this has been suggested many times, and has been denied, because of the simple reason that "people miss turns for unexpected reasons".

I was thinking of posting the exact same thing.

Even if ppl miss turns for unexpected and genuine reasons, they should still have it highlighted as the stat should show how likely they will miss a turn in your game; Example is someone if forever being called away in meetings and is so unable to play turns, any potential partner should know that there is a possibility of him being called in a meeting when they play.

You cannot always tell how reliable a partner is gonna be. Ppl don't always leave neg f/b for it, so unless you check all the games someone has played you do not really know what to expect.

i had 2 parties to go to and missed a turn in 26 games that makes me a serial deadbeater?

no, things happen, thats why people miss turnes, if you dont want to play with a serial deadbeater, look at his feedback, those who deadbeat, often get lots of negative feedback

That's right. The circumstances you describe don't make you a deadbeater, serial or otherwise. And yes things happen sometimes.

But if you missed 40 turns in 26 games - no actual deadbeating so nobody bothered to leave negative feedback - for whatever reason then I'd like to know. Because there's a good chance you'll miss a turn or two in your next game - for whatever reason * - and devalue any game I join with you.

* It's life, I know. I'm not making a moral judgement here, just saying I'd prefer not to play a game with you.

I wish there was a way for me to know who misses turns. I don't care if they have a good reason for missing turns. If they miss alot of turns I'd like to know so that I don't join a game they are in.

Who cares if they miss turns for good reason, they still miss turns.

seem good to me, so I may miss a few truns, big deal, it averges out, if something come up and I miss, 2 truns in 5 games i playing, so what i got 80 games which i never miss, it just so that can miss a turn not that i am a deadbeat, but if I alway miss for were ever reason, yea people should know before playing me,

I say no. There's a reason we have a feedback system; it's supposed to cover things like this. Plus, a counter would punish people who play more games even if per game they have missed fewer turns. It also wouldn't work with people who have been on the site longer because they may get a higher number that someone who has just joined but is much more likely to deadbeat.

Missed Turns

Postby bazmac on Sun Jan 20, 2008 3:32 pm

Hi, I'm abit of a newby to this sort of thing, but was thinking that new players who miss a turn should be kicked from the game at that stage, then they would not be of such an annoyance!

I think there should be advanced stats that show amount of missed turn total and then percentage on top of amount of games booted due to missing to many terms and percentage of that...So I agree with this idea as a starting point
