I now disagree you about 38 countries. I feel this map is best designed to have a force a fast expansion and a brutal fight between the players. So, increase the numbers to 40 is worse than maintain them 36. Anyway, the continents shouldnt be very big, or it would be bad to the playability.

Also, I think the new country in Catholics simply waste the continent, it was very bad already when compared to others, so I dislike the idea of add that country. If you think about remove another one, to bring the map again to 36, I think the best one is one from Emirates, but then add again a border between Baghdad and Kublai (or maybe banu and Sicily).

alright, so if you own a continent, you'll receive 2 extra armies if you own Rome OR Jerusalem. So if a territory is 3, you'd get 5 bonus armies right?


Now if you own the territory that is 3 and BOTH of the pink countries, you get 3 + 3 more? or is it 3 + 7 more?

either way, this map looks very similar to the Europe map ... I'm surpised nobody has mentioned that yet.

A player owning at least one group of territiories will receive an additional bonus of
2 for owning either ROME or JERUSALEM; and
3 for owning both

i.e. if you own Roman Catholics and Rome - bonus of 5
if you own Roman Catholics and Rome and Jerusalem - bonus of 8

it is close to the new europe map - didn't see it

the differences are the time, the equal bonuses, less continents and the crusade for additional bonuses

Maybe this could 'cause many problems to solve, but in my opinion Sicily, at least for it history, should be part of Roman Catholic continent.

also the font you used on the bottom is too confusing and hard to read when you have it at that size i sugest making it bigger or changing the font

Yes, the labels for continents are bad, the legend was much better. And yes, the text in the botton is hard to read. Good thing: I like Papal States name, I want to be Pope

Werent the title Crusades 1220 A.D.? I think this was better.
Shouldnt we remove the word "kingdom" from some names at least? Its a bit repetitive...
Is really Holy Roman Empire the best name to that region?

37 countries is ok, best than 38 in my opinion, but can you really force the Holy Lands to start as Neutral? What is the xml code? In this case, shouldnt Baghdad border Kublai? Or maybe add a route to Sulayam?

About the pinkies bonuses, I believe it should be:
+2 to Papal or Holy Lands (yeah, Papal States are important too ).
+6 to both pink countries.
I would like to understand why you changed Papal to 1. So, its not that important... Lets put people to fight for it

Of course it would be a problem if Sicily would be part of roman catholic countries 'cause in this way Rome territory would be totally inside a continent...
But mine it's more a doubt about hystory than the game playability...

the far southern tip of italy and sicily were difficult

in 1000bc the south was part of the eastern roman empire (future byzantine empire) and sicily was an emirate!!

by 1200 it was a kingdom

i have assumed the far south tip was still closely alogned to the Eastern Roman Empire

This is the idea, it has 6 countries only, and is adjacent to both pink countries. It should work as a passage, I think, or a tough option to hold.

In fact, now I realized one border is removed, and I dislike it. Now this continent is a strong one. The brown one, for example, also has 4 borders, but 7 countries and is not adjacent to Papal...

Plus, I believe the player should have an extra bonus for having both Papal and Holy Lands. That 4 is an additional 4? 8 total? Well, 8 would be to high, and 4 (no bonuses for both) would be low, in my opinion. Anyway, put the word "total", like "4 total armies for holding both"... or "extra". This way the legend is not clear about the both pinks bonus.

Yeah, lets get a sea... maybe some ships, and horsemen in the map
