he's right. we should be helping new folks, not pushing them away.
jakejake, just try not to create new threads until you're more comfortable with the foundry. and just ask for help, there's plenty who will.

I was thinking we could do a player created map. What we would do is make a simple sketch that is sectioned of into a to-be-determined number of territories arranged in a grid. We would have a letter for each section, and letters for each extra thing such as the name, the textures etc. When we have that set up, we have the CCers come in and do the rest. Like this: they pick a letter and get to decide everything about that thing, it could be the a texture/name etc. then they would just decide what it would be straight out, but if it is a territory, they get to name it, shape it, decide which territorys it can attack etc. Everything the CCers decide would have to be approved and edited of course so it would all relate somehow.

Any thoughts?

well....it's the players that are already making the maps now.
i don't think this is a horrible idea...but you may get some pretty disjointed maps out of it. would there even be a theme at all?
the phrase "herding cats" comes to mind...

The maps would be a mess for gameplay. Most of them would probably be too complex to understand (if each country had its own effects). It would just be too much for a single map to handle.

Venezuela!

Image from Wikipedia! Sure it's not the best for countries, but it's got good continents but an unequal amount of territories (about 29).

Awesome, eh?

Fun Map

Postby Megadeth666 on Sat Mar 01, 2008 10:24 am

I had this idea stuck in my head forever...Its a map of a downtown strip consisting of 4 Night Clubs, a common area, and back alleys...My idea for something like this would be that there is Time Zones, meaning theres a morning, afternoon and night...so only at certain time the doors would be open to the night clubs and/or the back alleys etc......The territories in the bars would be DJ's, doormen, bartenders, dance floor, washrooms, etc.....In the common area you would have hot a dog stand, phone booth, gift shop, etc.....In the back alleys you have garbage bins, hobos, rats, etc.......Each Bar would have 3 door in it, and 1 would go to the alley, common area, and connect to an adjacent bar....and at certain times of the day ,certain doors would be opened or closed...example would be, all doors would be closed to bars from common area in morning, but opened to the alley....and in the afternoon some doors would be opened to certain bars but closed to alley and so on....in the evening the door to the alleys would be closed but every other door would be opened to go from bar to bar, and common area.....I was even thinking of putting a police officer in there some how.....I do have a rough draft of what it could look like so If any1 is interested in this concept please let me know

I like the idea of doors that are only opened based on a certain time (tho to be fair, this would probably have to be related to some mod-division of the game round rather than the actual time, which varies around the world anyway). Unfortunately this is not codeable with the current XML we are running, unless I'm mistaken, in which case, watch out... I've got plans...

I've thinking in a map of Colombia....this can be great because colombia has 32 territories...and 5 well defined sub-regions (http://solar.physics.montana.edu/munoz/ ... nes_N.html) ....even 6 if we consider insular zone as a subregion too......even can be better if include neighbors as a adjacent territories too...i mean, Ecuador, Peru, Brasil, Venezuela, and panama...and nicaragua and haiti as ocean neigboars.....that can be so cool

How about a Wheel of Time map, from the series by Robert Jordan?

It's been suggested a number of times, but so far nobody seems to have come up with a good map for it. I would do it, but I don't think my graphics abilities are good enough to do it justice.

What about a world 2.2. It would be the same map as 2.1 but every terrtiory can bombard any other territory. This is more realistic because of air forces.

ok so time for me to put my hand in this map making thing.

CC ZOO

im currently designing drafts and how this is gonna look
but so far.
continents are things like primates, birds, reptiles et.
territroies make up each individual animal.
as is right now 42 terrs 8 continents.
it will be similar to midkemdil in the way the territories are connected by paths.
expect to see a thread in map ideas with a few days

*this is all assuming this is not being worked on by anyone or yeah, but i did a good look through maps foundy and ideas and couldnt find anything.
back to drawing i go

in relation to that. drafts are done by hand though they look pretty dodgy.
i have started doing it on graphics program now. expect an image in next day or two
as well as description
only different gameplay is a few one way attacks.
but apart from that pretty simple. hopefully i can do graphics some justice and make it look real pretty like. i think ill be ok.

Star Wars

Postby mushin on Wed Mar 12, 2008 10:55 am

I tore through all the threads, and maybe I just missed it, but I can't believe no one has posted the Star Wars themed maps. You could go nuts there. You could do everything from specific buildings, to planet wide conquest, to galactic battles. You could even do a map of R2-D2 where you have to capture all the different part of the beeping icon.

Just a thought.
If I seem slightly confused somebody please slap me.
