English civil war [suspended until castle map is complete]

Postby Telvannia on Wed Oct 11, 2006 11:56 am

First Map

Im making a english map and Im wandering who like it and if I should carry on making it

http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/9696/map2ai5.jpg

I have not yet put the continent names on or added the names of the contries I was wandering what people though before I carried on

Second Map

I have added the continent names and added one more continent to make if more fun, made the map overall a bit bigger to be able to fit all the names without it looking squashed up

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/6460/map13ty6.jpg

Third Map

Please feel free to make a comment on how I could improve it

This is my first version for the civil war map
the way of showing the royalist land is only to show where it is not what the finished look will be
im not to sure about the names of the territories i have shortened most of the names so it could fit in.
I also added in wales to make the map a bit bigger

I'm not sure this idea will get a lot of backing, due to the popularity of the British Isles map, and the similarity between the two.

yeah that is what I was thinking it is very close to the british map

but I wanted to make a map and england is the place I know best so I thought it would be a good place to start by making a map of

Perhaps if the this idea doesn't gain any momentum, consider a particular area or district or city in England...Perhaps that could be interesting, something you know, and still unique.

I like the idea of a more accurate map of England, the one in the British map is a bit weird.
Are you going to make regions the continants and counties the countries?

yes that is the general plan of it
the regions/continents and countries/counties are already colour coded on the map in the first post

Oxford would make a great map with all the colleges and stuff.

suppose you could do a mix like both oxford and cambridge in one map and you get a bnus for holding the whole of the city as well as smaller bonuses for just holding the universities

You could you raise "East Anglia" a bit a stick "London" as close to Southend as possible. I think it would be clear enough.

The funniest map of England I ever saw was in the first ever Viz annual.

If you can get hold of it on ebay - that would give you a new idea to work with

i prefer this one to the old one because it was so inacurate, i dont believe whoever made it is british, it is compleatly wrong hampshire is inland! cornwall is just a small bit on the end most of it being taken up by devon which in turn has half of it in somerset

this one is much more accurate
