Rank Requirement *rejected*

Postby patrick1744 on Sun Mar 23, 2008 11:25 pm

What if there was a rank requirement button you could push and you could pick the lowest quality player you want to be able to join your game, you cuold set it to be cook or conqueror or anywhere in between, that way the higher ranks could play amongst themselves if they choose or they could open it up to anybody

I think it would be a good idea but supposedly would cause discrimination against horrifically bad players

Game Finder Option (Suggestion)

Postby flyboy91 on Mon Mar 24, 2008 12:47 am

<-------------------->

<Subject>: Game-Finder Option

* Concise Idea: Allow searching of games by ranks

<Body>:

* Suggestion Idea: I use the Game Finder constantly to find specific types of games I want to play in. It would be great if you would allow a rank-filter as well, so you can pick the highest, lowest, or specific ranks that you want to find in the game you're trying to find
* Specifics: As I said, allow filtering of highest rank, lowest rank, or just specific ranks
* Why it is needed: So those who want to play low rankers only, or so those who want to play other high-rankers only, can filter the games they want to join accordingly.

NOTE: This is NOT to say that when starting games, you can filter the ranks allowed to join. This is ONLY a GAME FINDER option

This is a good idea. I suggested something like this too... all that is needed to make it fair is to make is so you shouldn't be able to set it higher than the rank that is a few ranks below you. Then there is no reason you can't still have a site with good quality inter-rank play.

It would just cause more rank segregation, and "Mommyyyyyyy he wont play me cuz im a cook waaaa".

Be the last to join your games, problem solved.

It's not a bad idea, but for now you could start a new thread in Callouts for Brigadier games.

That's how the points system works.... you should be able to win more than 50% of those games, so that overall you stay even. If you can't win at that rate, then you don't deserve your points. If you're so attached to your points, then maybe you'll stop preying on cooks to get more, and instead play with higher ranks where you'll lose fewer (and more often).

Look at my games before you talk noob.

it was a Aoe magic game, speed game and it's quite hard to stop noobs from joining.

People who complain about the scoring system have a score that is higher than what they are actually rated or they play people with a lower score than their skill level.

even though i probably am one of those 'noobs', i think it would be a great idea.

what option were you thinking of, like points greater than [number] and/or points less than [number]
?
i would like to see this as an option.

Add a point specific only option to join game

Postby Dekloren on Sun Apr 06, 2008 11:23 pm

Suggestion Idea: Add a point specific only option to join games

Specifics: Adding a point specific ie: 1800-2000 Lieutenant rank can only join the game, assuming you were a Lieutenant as well. Maybe a point variance option ie 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 points. Being if you were at 2700 points and 200 was selected, anyone with 2500-2900 points could join.

Why it is needed: Higher ranked players don't like to start games for fear of cooks joining them and the possibility of losing lots of points. I think this would be fair and would end the bitching about why high ranked players are scared to play each other.

I like the rank requiremnt for games, however it already exists in the form of private games. Allowing it in manner being discussed would make it easier for a lot of people but I understand there is a concern amongst players that it would be abused. Generally high ranks wont play with much lower ranks in games anyway because of the point loss (unless in doubles) si I think it should be allowed however beacuse there is already an avenue to do it I dont think it will get up.

I realize that people with higher ranks like to avoid risks; this is why a quarter of active players, and maybe an eighth of decent players, are stuck as cooks. A bell-shaped curve is what we sure don't have. Implementation of this would turn our graph into a U.
