I am with you Jimi... This needs to be civil.
There is nothing coming back when people ask questions.

One of the problems I see here is that the foundry is making no attempt to understand or hear a large voice coming from the community e.g. going back to the original map. The choices given in the poll are all the changed map just with different color number backgrounds. The calls from the foundry then are... "See nobody knows which one the old map is so they are all lame..." Indeed people can not identify the new map because it is not there.

Further the poll is impossible to quantify because there are simply too many choices. It is as if the foundry folks do not want this debate and simply went back one step in the process, offered up as many choices as possible and then will simply call a winner of their choice.

This debate should be fair and the community should be given an honest choice. Those who have an impossible time seeing the armies in Europe should come up (did come up?) with their solution. It should be put up as the contender against the unchanged, original map on a community wide poll. The winner stands, the loser goes.

That would be fair... What do you think?

No idea if i am wasting my time here or not .. (well of course i am but you know what i mean)

I made the second outline gray (additional to the black one)in southern Europe.
and less interestingly, swapped the black outline for a gray/blue one in Northern Europe.

In my naive mind if we could add a second, self contained number outline, (as in Southern europe) we could do away with the Discs altogether. - With the self contained highlighter even 3 digit number will be easily discerned.

The blue would perhaps need to be a lighter shade in the center but it might just work if it is possible with regards programming. (there would have to be 1 pixel added to the spacing between digits.. one would be enough as it could overlap)

lighter blue in center of 2 outlines (one black and outer gray) in Southern Europe.

this one swaps Black for blue : Original Blue is the outline and black is the center with gray as second outline in Southern Europe.

Yo son this is not flame wars and again thank you but, I asked you not to supply more self serving crap!

I have offered suggestions and my displeasure both. I responded to your silly rant and childish expectation of an apology from everyone, you're such a twerp... and get more of the same from you. Perhaps if you step out and allow a debate, instead of your flames and insinuations, this issue can be solved.

Please do not respond to this, please! That or go to FW where you will not simply be mucking up this discussion and you can feel powerful.

Where does it say you have the right to say I can't post anywhere - so you're allowed a say and I am not?

It's funny that you accuse me of disallowing a debate - I've been providing help and solutions - you have been spamming and trolling and typing in all caps and colours... have I been doing that? No.

And I was correct to ask for an apology - this Poll proves that the majority of people preferred the new changes compared to the people who disliked them - therefore all the flaming that you "new classic map haters" gave me was completely a) unnecessary, b) undeserved & c) unjustified.

Also - how you can accuse *me* of flaming in here when it's all you've been doing in all of your posts throughout not just here - but in multiple topics and forums. I think that you need to have a good hard look at yourself - people who live in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones.

hehe well actually the vote proves that the majority of people prefer none of the options.

Incidentally, did you see the above maps with double outline Yeti? do you think it is a waste of time?

The people have chosen... and, as is the will of the masses, we will change the army shadows to White 30%. A runoff vote really isn't necessary considering that all white shadow votes add up to 57%. As Twill mentioned having an option for toggling the artwork is not on the table because it would put other much more interesting and important changes even further behind.

I think this is a Classic the vast majority of members will enjoy. We'll let the dust settle and see how it goes before considering further changes so we can make an informed tweak rather than an emotional one.

Thanks to everyone for voicing their opinion and participating in this important process! We will be sure to notify you of any future major changes long before they happen to avoid anything like this again.

Huge Improvement!!! Thanks everyone!!!

I was in the middle of a classic game when the change happened. Other than F'ing up BOB, and having to refresh, it's great. I didn't notice at first, then after I refreshed, my opacity was back at 100%.

Thanks Again!

Classic looks even worse than the way you first changed it to.

You can't see green in NA, probably blue in Europe, and yellow burns the eyes like a solar eclipse...

Fix it, please.

Now you are discriminating against people with normal eyesight.

I have just had a number of turns and although the overall effect is more pleasing I am really struggling to see a lot of the numbers , seems we are swopping one lot of problems for another. Given that there seems to be an enlarged Classic in the pipeline why on earth cant the ' improvement ' be made to that map and the original map reinstated in the meantime.

I have played on the updated map (small version) and it's much better than Classic! with that horrible White 60%. At least now the army shadows do not distract me.

Since I am colour blind I must add that although the pink was a bit less visible for me in S. America it's no big deal. Overall I am satisfied with this solution and I can start playing on Classic again.

Thanks goes to all the people who helped to make Classic playable again for me.

Why do you play a game of colours if you are colour blind?

Being colour blind does not mean you do not see any colour.

Personally I have a slight problem with red and green mainly and I am only mild colour blind, however there are forms of colour blindness which are much more severe. Anyway the colour codes solve a lot of problems for me. Before using them it used to take me much longer to play a game.

You can google colour blindness and learn more about it if you are interested. Specifically answering your question I play CC because I enjoy it. It's not a game about colour, it's about strategy and a pinch of luck.

However I am sure you do not really care about this do you? All you care is about having the original Classic back which for your information was fine for me and I did not have any problems playing either. My comment was made just to voice the opinion of a person who is colour blind since I think it represent more than 10% of the population and probably that is reflected in the CC community as well.

STERILISATION!!!

Removing character to create an absolute fair playing field - but war isn't fair! War has different terrains (map colours), mis-information (chat) and other dirty stuff.

Right, so maybe yellow should get an extra army each turn to add character.

I didn't post after the first change because I thought it was fine but this new map is a bit harder to see. Mainly green/grey in America. Next vote should be between the old map, white 60% and this new one :D
