lone forfeited the final return in round 2. tom is forfeiting the serve in round 3 so it's lone's turn again. is he still forfeiting?

Kinda complicated.... I'll try to explain (and remember what I did):

1. Painted light blue on a Black layer. Soft brush, just a big piece of blue. Layer set to screen, so only the blue parts show, black is invisible. That made a very rough outline of where the clouds would be.
2. Smudge tool to get the clouds into the shape I wanted (big around planet, fades away to the sides.
3. Copied the Blue layer into a new layer. Hue adjustment on the new layer to make it red.
4. Smudge tool on Blue layer to get those cool cloud details.
5. Soft Black brush on the red layer (remember, its on screen, so black essentially works as an eraser on the colors), so the blue details can show through.
6. Double all those layers, and then flatten the copies. So I have the two original (blue and red) and a 3rd layer that is both of them combined.
7. increase the contrast on that 3rd (combined) layer to get the bright spots around the moon.
8. More Smudging on each of the 3 layers to get everything where I want. More black painting, also.
9. Still more smudging, some more brightness/contrast and levels adjustment.


.... I think thats mostly it.
The best rules of painting to get nice details (with Textures, Stars, clouds, complicated stuff):
---make it at 2x resolution.
---use the zoom tool A LOT, always moving in and out to make details and then see how they look overall.
---If you think you are done, you're not. Keep messing with what you have, using filters and adjustments and smudges and anything else you can think of. It'll eventually start to look even better than you hoped.
---Make lots of mistakes, it sometimes looks better than what you had originally. (thats what happened to my egypt picture. I accidentally set the glowing rays of light layer around the pyramid to overlay instead of screen. Thats what made the picture so dark, and I liked it a lot more....)

Sry this took so long. Only so many hours in the day.

This is the final return for round 2 in the Star Jones Bracket. I played off of the eyes wcaclimbing used from his volley. And I guess the whole Egypt thing in general.

I used the idea of the rockets and the general spacey theme. You can see the CC star inside the asteroid's sun. My favorite part is the starfield, which I custom made for this image.
Also, this pic is for my dad, because it's Father's Day and he works for NASA :P
I'll upload the PSD in the morning.

if you want i can do a return from that - it would only take a short time as i find returns easier than serves - i could do it tomorrow?
or i could try now?

it could carry on as usual as was planned befire lone forefitted and the whole schedule was messed up?

I find that serving is easier. I don't have to be as creative and it doesn't matter what I include in my pic ;)

ok this needs a lot of work - even for my standards, but my 'early' night went out the window about 3 or 4 hours ago - needed to add cloud, blue a few things, make a few things look better, generally this is not finished. but im posting it to show that im willing to do this and not giving up:

I'd use this one as your inspiration Kap.... t-o-m forfeited his serve, and Lone forfeited his final volley in the previous round...

I think t-o-m has just posted a random picture?? Unless the round-order got switched?

edit: just rechecked against the first post, and I'd definately use this image as your base.

I used LP's BG, and i changed "The end is near." to "The end is now."

Since im not great with graphics, and i just kind of discovered animations...i figured this would work.
