When people compare it to Titanic, its important to realize ticket prices have ballooned quite a bit since then. I think i read somewhere that the Dark Knight would have to get to about 900 million to beat Titanic pound for pound. Though it could still end up being the most profitable movie if it doesnt break titanics amount, simply because it was made for less.
Either way its an entertaining move to see.
